Ya I somehow missed this thread too. My DS also makes a clank/thunk sound occasionally, and it's the slipjoint. The absolute BEST grease I've found for driveshafts is this stuff:

I've been seeing this stuff in some of the major chain stores now, but only the big tubes. The kits they sell from their website are pretty nifty. The stuff is really sticky and gooey, totally waterproof.
