i think I have finally checked all the boxes I had on my punch list. Oil pan and steering box.

When I bought the rig, the oil pan gasket had been recently replaced. After replacing every other gasket, including the RMS, I still had a small leak. I used permatex high tack and stuck the gasket to the engine, then placed the oil pan. That method seemed to work well and I think I am all sealed up. I think the previous mechanic just dropped the pan and added a bunch of silicone! i really like using the Permatex high tack. Good stuff.

Not knowing how the 62 is supposed to drive but thinking it still had more play than I thought it should; and having replaced all the suspension bushings, shocks, tre's, etc I decided to send off the box to West Tx off road. They had it back to me in just a few days. Great customer service. I must say, it did make a noticeable difference. Highly recommend them. Now, I just have to decide what I want to do with it!

Very nice write up and great looking rig! Trying to estimate a budget for doing similar. What ballpark should a paint job like yours run? TIA!!

Thank you! Cost really depends on your area, condition of the body, and how much of the work you do yourself. Tons of variables, like new fenders and my labor. The painter has done several cars for me and they come to him apart, ready for prep/ paint and then I put it back together. Two tone is more time consuming. Best to bring it to a couple of shops in the area and tell them what you want and what you will do. DISCUSS a time frame for completion tied to money. In my area it is hard to get a shop that will paint a car. They are all tied up with insurance work.

Be careful of the body shop shuffle. They agree to do the work, you give them a down payment for supplies, and 6 months later your car is sitting in the corner with parts stacked on it.

Time to let it go. I just dont drive it, and my youngest just got her drivers license and has no interest in the 62. I thought it might grow on her but she is happy in a 2010 Ford escape with 145K miles because it has cooler features.

Don’t do it man. You will regret it. Ask me how I know. 5 days post sale of Buster.

I know, I know. I just saw a 1970 datsun 240 sell for 49k today on BAT. Sold a beautiful one I restored for 10K about 5 years ago. Not to mention a very low mileage 88 M5 BMW I gave away about 10 years ago. I just have too many toys in the shop and need some room. The 40 will never get sold.
