Drilled some holes for the install of the tippin meter, pulled out the old dash, that hidden nut in the middle always gets me. Then installed the altimeter on the new pad, reinstalled the hole dash pad and AC vents which leads to the need for an 86 model ac vent for the hole all the way to the right near the passenger door. The older vents must be a little bit bigger to round out the corner of the older pads, but the 88 vent will work until then. Also the altimeter cover has a different fit just need to find an older one for some tighter gaps. So here is what it looks like now.

Looking great. I wish I had all of the bells and whistles like a tachometer, oil pressure gauge, altometer....etc. Hell, I'd even like to have a clock on my dash!

Spent a couple hours cleaning the Red Dragons new heart, and depending on how much Obama lets us have for change on tax return determines how soon it will be dropped in. For your viewing pleasure and mine:

Yep have a few extra parts to put on later along with a new seal kit, and possibly head gaskets not sure yet.
I have to say that is one of the best things I did with my current engine. Before I dropped it in I put a new timing kit, oil pump, seals, gaskets, etc and have been running full synthetic ever since and she uses no oil. I just wish I would have had my injectors professionally cleaned before I put them in. My #1 likes to stick closed sometimes, especially when it's cold out.
I'm exploring more options for a possible future swap for mine. I definitely want to follow your steps to see what you run into along the way.

Let me know when you are ready for that heart implant. So what transmission are you putting in, auto or manual or the one you have now.

Going with an auto from a '97 with a Marlin adapter to gear driven transfer case with 4.70 gears and twin stick.
Nice to see some one is wrenching on their rigs. That is gong to be a nice combo that your putting in. If you need a hand putting it in give a holler, BUT for sure give me a holler once it’s all working so I can ride with you on a trail

Its installed and seems to work fine so far, I need to install some winch rope with a fairlead. If I use the roller style with cable it will cover the front 2" reciver on the bumper so its a catch 22.
You don't really need that receiver when you have a winch. You could always drop the receiver a little bit if needed.

Bolted the starter up today and did a compression test the cylinders all ended up over 150psi after some lubricant was sprayed down the spark plug holes. So looks like we will just do the timming chain, water pump, and a gasket kit for the engine repairs, along with alot of parts washing.
