I've got 488's and will be running 37/38's. Haven't decided on which turbo yet, i've got a couple to chose from. I'll build the exhaust and get a couple adaptors fort the different flanges.

I got the clutch hooked up today and took it for a test drive it has no brakes throttle or power steering and no transmission mount just a chain across the frame to hold it up. I had it in high range and just popped the clutch and it didnt stall just took off then i put it in low and it would spin the tires if i popped the clutch. It has stock 82 pickup axles 4:10s i think and 35's tons of torque i plan on putting a turbo on it eventually.

Is that the rad from the 60? Hence the fitment issues? I'd guess the 22's radiator would be too small, is that the case? Electric fan maybe?

yea its from the 60 i might be able to fit it if i cut into the rad support. The rad for the 22r has the ports on the wrong side and i think it would probobly be too small also i am using the 22r fan which is smaller. If it wont fit an electric fan will be my next choice.

What about a 2L/3L radiator? the ports will be on the correct side.

Do you think that would be enough to cool it i do plan on putting a turbo on it in the future aswell.

It might just barely work for NA, but with a turbo, I doubt it.

I'm beginning to think having a radiator built may be your best bet. A custom 4-Core 3L radiator might do the trick.

I think with an electric fan i can fit the rad from the 60

What kind of clearance behind the engine?

Got a shot from the top looking down on the fan?

Kyle at NorthWestFab, has the plates made and one of the splined shafts, only needs to make the second shaft, awaiting spline cutting tool for the cnc mill....

This is the only pic i have it doesnt really show the gap its about and inch and a half to 2 inches from the valve cover to the firewall.

damn that's a lot of space.

It is probably not as common, at least for the USA because these are rare engines and everyone keeps them in their land cruisers, or takes them to convert their 2f engines. Plus a lot of custom work it looks like. Besides, who wants to swap in a 4 speed? I guess if it is just a off road vehicle then it may not matter as much.

Ya he has a lot of room in there now because he has no radiator, fan. Wait until he builds a custom radiator and tries to squeeze an inter cooler in there for that planed turbo.

Is that tranny a land cruiser tranny with the off set rear drive shaft or is it centered like a pickup tranny? I noticed you were running a pickup rear axle. I wondered if it was mated to the land cruiser off set transfer case how it works with the offset? Any vibrations? or does it work ok?

I'm using the lc offset t case and regular center toyota axle. The angle on the driveshaft isn't bad i haven't gone over like 4km so i don't know how the vibrations will be. I have a 5 speed lc tranny and i was told the input shafts were interchangeable so if that's the case if i am unsatisfied with the 4 speed i will install the 5 speed. I have taken the cab back off the frame to fit the fuel tank finish welding up the engine mounts, make a transmission crossmember and get it painted. I will take some pictures of the driveshaft angle this weekend. Also i was planning on going to the auto wreckers this weekend to look for a turbo any cars anyone knows of that have a suitable turbo for the 3b?

Older Volvo turbos are quite popular, check out cams thread out.https://forum.ih8mud.com/ca-bc-vanc...7566-new-member-hello-there-vi-bit-intro.html

If you go turbo, I think you should swap in a 60 series rear axle, the torque of that motor will either snap your t-case, or a few pinions.

ill keep the pickup axle in it for now if i destroy it i have 3 complete sets of lc axles.
