I need a little help, im building a 1986 toyota 4runner and im puting a solid axle out of 85 4runner, i just purchused the u bolt flip kit and i was wondering do i have to convert to high steer because i still have the stock steering arm on the driver side with the drop link and the flip kit dosent fit. Is there any way i can get around this without having to buy the whole high steer kit.

Yes if you want to keep you ifs box you have to swap over to crossover steering, or if you want to take a step back buy a push/pull ps/ box and use the steering form the stock 85 axle(it sucks)..... But those are your options.......... Or at least that is what I think...

It doesn't necessarily need to be Hi-steer (tie rod above the springs), but you do have to go crossover steering.

Cutting corners will only cost you in the long run. For safety reasons do not skimp on brakes or steering.
