Question about the order of assembly here.. I want to do this in the spring, but would have to take it somewhere to have the welds put on once assembled.... But after having brake caliper bolts back out... I like the added security of the weld...

Can you do the welding after its all put together?? My first thought is that the welding might heat up the surrounding metal enough to melt the poly-bushings in the control arms? Alt, I know things are tight there.. I'd hate to weld it without it all together and then not have it line up...

Poser/Tyler? Were the welds done without the control arms in position???

Yea Doug .. that would be an expensive trip for me ! Sucks , I know .. :pout:

Jomama ... assemble it all and fasten with lock tite . Then drive over to a welder . The weld will not damage the bushing , as it only takes 10-15 seconds per side . It is also just an extra safety measure , so you will be fine to drive a short distance to get it welded .

It was a bit of a biotch to line up the control arms to get those bolts all in , so be patient and have a few buddies there to tug on the axle to get the last bolt to pop thru .. :censor:

That's how it was with just the caster correction bushings on my rig. Had like 4 guys pushing and pulling trying to get the control arms in. :bounce:

Yea TY, looks like you are going to need a bigger curb to flex on now!! Sweet!

I must have been lucky. I got the arms back in with the assist of my 14 year old son, but seriously, it was no big deal. I got the rear axle bolt in, then rotated the pinion down with a small hydraulic jack, then installed the front bolt. To mount the arm in the frame bracket, I used a ratchet strap to pull the axle into position, my son to line up the hole with a large phillips screwdriver and I slid the bolt home. With a couple of big guys to move the axle it would have been really easy. Now I just need to weld the fronts and a bit on the rear as well.

I put about 300 freeway miles on the caster plates since the install and it makes a huge difference, especially during hard braking. Slee and Co. deserves a pat on the back for this effective low $$ caster mod.

So, let's see a pic of the new rig with its stance....say posed by a Starbucks or curtain shop?

Much more better.

Nice looking front axle too....;)

Did I mention I chucked the stock running boards , and put on a front mudflap . If you do this with a 4" lift , remind yourself you face oblivion if you attempt to step out as you normally do . ;)

I know turn sideways , and throw myself down onto the ground ... chicks dig that too :flipoff2:

That drivers side window looks great too! :flipoff2:

Glad you got it working again! Can't imagine ripping it down in the snow....damn.

It was only 60 degrees here today...and breezy... :D

Seriously it looks great. Are you coming to Roundup?

No pirating the thread .. hehe :D

Dan here kicked ass in the parts dept. this weekend !! Had my parts out the door faster than I could say "so whats the damage ?? " ;) He's the poster child for parts service genius

EX : He needed part #'s for the bumpstops I wanted for the front . Apparently they had to have been on a '93 , and were no longer in the North American system , so he actually laid uder his 80 , and removed one of his to get a # !!! I couldn't believe it ! A few days later one was already there from Japan ...

Thanx again Dan !

-T-, that is looking good. Now all you need to address are the bumpers and sliders.

Will - who doesn't practice what he preaches. :D
