So i thought i was done building cruisers and then my buddy Deo had this one tempting me for some time. About a month ago i purchased it and started planning on what to do with it. It is now on it journey to the house and 800 mile drive. I am still debating on a few options the direction of the truck, but drive train and suspension have been determined. I am going to install a 1hdt, and terrain tamer paroblics with ims shocks. I want to keep it lookings as close to stock as possible. I have done several 80 axel swaps in the past but i wanted the wheels tucked like a 60 should look. I am still debating on the cosmetic issues but wanted to start this tread to document the build.

So Deo rolled into the house after the 700 mile journey. Big thanks to him. We had a good dinner and then went to look at the truck at the shop. The truck did fine just the idle solenoid was not working correctly. So we found that it was missing the o ring and replaced it and it’s working fine. Took the truck for a drive to make sure it was working and the suspension was gone. So we said let’s just swap it out. Much better.

I had gotten 5 new tires and noticed one was bad, had put it in the back of the truck to take it back and while washing the car it blew. That was a wake up call. Debating on what i want to do with this truck. A part of me wants to paint everything underneath and leave the exterior as it is.

While it is a great survivor i knew there were a couple of rust spots i wanted to take care of quickly. The first is around the windshield frame from a bad window replacement. I didn’t know how bad it would be so i went ahead and pulled the windshield to see the damage. It wasn’t as bad as i thought but still needs attention

So i stripped the interior today to find all the spots that would need to be dealt with. I want to keep the patina on the truck so i am going to carefully fix all rust spots. The first pic is the drivers door, next is the drivers floor pan, pass floor pan and the typical door. It appears the windshield was leaking for a while. Over all not perfect but not to bad

I redid the entire underbody of my truck and left the body as-is with all the patina, minus cutting the roof off to repair rust and painting the roof and I don't regret it at all. I like having the body patina while having replaced all the bits underneath. The patina keeps the trucks character.

@bdyer12 you build such great trucks. And Deo! This is gonna be great!
