So looks like my power steering box needs to be rebuilt or replaced.
Need recommendations on which one to do. My mechanic isn’t comfortable rebuilding it.

What @Malleus said. Redhead Steering Gear is located in Washington state. They rebuilt mine and it turned out great.

I'll second Redhead as well - I had them rebuild a box out of an 80 series for my 60 and it's been a night and day difference.

***1987 FJ60 gear box upgrade question***

Trying to replace my gear box in my '87 fj60, with a RedHead rebuilt gear box from an 80 that was parted out.
On Red Head's rebuild form, they offer the option to "include pre-tapped ports & plugs for hydraulic steering assist"

Obviously this wouldn't have come OEM like this, but curious if this is something that is useful if I do an LS swap down the road?

According to RedHead, it's an upgrade that adds a hydraulic ram to the steering linkage to aid in steering. Most vehicles do NOT have this option, thus if you are unsure if you have it, you probably do not.

Any suggestions from those who have experience with rebuilt gear boxes, or have upgraded a 60 gearbox with an 80 series box?
Any suggestion on the pitman arm upgrade? Would an 80 arm work fine, or is a 105 preferred? Is there any modifications needed for an 1987 fj60.
