Yes, a few good threads on Valve Adjusting. It's not hard, just a little time consuming. I think there's some YouTube vids on it also.

There are also a few thread on vac hose - Search for 'Bulk Vacuum Hose' for types and part numbers and lengths you'll need, and if you want to use the Toyota or aftermarket.
First thing I did was try on YouTube; it seems like it’s a simple thing. I’ll need a feeler gauge. And from what I’m getting, the FSM has proper specs.

10-4 on the hoses as well.

My 60.has all smog still and works. First thing I did was replace all old rubber under the hood. Idle improved dramatically after replacing all 3mm and 5mm hose. I used silicon hose...start with lil stuff and it.may solve your problem. Either way when was last time hoses and tune up (cap and rotor) occurred? Good luck

I’ve been re-learning and chasing weird idle lately, too. This is a great FSM to have for these smogged rigs.

troubleshooting section is solid as well as Testing for all the goofy valves and such in the miles of vac lines.

If it hasn’t been done in a long time…i might recommend the longish tune up steps in the 2f engine FSM. It’s a multi step process to go through, but a great thorough exercise. I’d start at section-page 2-9 go through 2-24.

Have you set timing, done a lean drop, valve adjust? it’s all in there and more. Stuff like that. Sample photos…

I thought I had replied to this already; but apparently not.
I’ve considered doing a tune-up, I don’t have any records with regards to when the PO did one himself, though it appears that he probably planned to considering some of the miscellaneous things I got with the sale.

On another note, @Spike Strip: I tried a fuel additive to see if that would eliminate any possible water in the fuel system to see if the RPMs would stabilize, but that didn’t seem to help.

I went ahead and purchased a carb rebuild kit, OEM fuel filter, manifold gasket, and new vacuum hoses for the smog bay from Matt over the weekend, it should be here mid-week. Are there any special tools that you would recommend I buy as well?
