I posted before about my 81 fj40 stater issues.
I bought and installed a cruisercorps remanufactured starter a year ago. Have had issues with it not clicking or starting. If I wiggle the starter wire from the ignition it will start.
I have replaced about 12 inches of the wire (black with white stripe) that was corroded . with crimped on connectors (they appear tight, cant pull them apart). and the spade connector on the solenoid is tight. Still have intermittent issues with it not starting/clicking until i wiggle that wire. I am at a loss.

Well maybe your ignition switch/box is going bad (inside). Corrosion can crawn under the insulation on wires - crimp connectors can corrode in the crimp. Use a remote starter switch to test the starter. If it works every time with the remote its not the starter.

The ignition wire will eventually wear out. Best to just replace it. Looks like you found the culprit. If you are curious, you can connect a remote start switch(connect one end to the starter solenoid and the other to the battery. At the ignition switch, turn key to the "on" position and use the remote switch to start it....and see how it behaves. I always add a ground from the frame to the starter. Seems you find this ground jumper on fj60 and newer fj40s.
