I have an 81 toy pickup. Wanted to know how hard to change the clutch. Any tips, anything else should replace when I do it or is there a thread somewhere about them. Should I get a ceramic one?

No need for ceramic unless you are going high performance with this truck... It takes about 5 hours alone, with a trans jack. Nothing hard about it, except getting the trans back in and lined up with the engine again. While you are in there, you should change the throwout bearing, pilot bearing, rear main seal on the engine, and the clutch pressure plate and disk...

An impact gun helps a lot in getting the flywheel off so you can change the rear main seal. You'll want about 4 feet of extensions for the ratchet to get to the upper bolts on the bell housing. I got my clutch parts through Marlin Crawler, and have been happy so far!

Try to get your hands on another flywheel, get it resurfaced ahead of time. Borrow one from someone then give them your old one back in trade.

Thanks guys for the info. I picked up a reg. clutch from NAPA while I was there getting some LBJs for my blazer. I'm going to order the rest from Marlin i think. Let you know how it went.:)
