THINK SHORT BUS CHRISTO? Isn't one of it's advantages the smaller size?

No, it is because it has 40" tires and I don't care if I beat the snot out of it. All 80's and 100's are way to heavy to be really good rock crawlers. There is a point where it all breaks down. Approach and Departure angles are not all there is to it.

Also, what advantages are there? For what kind of wheeling. This is like measuring penisses (sp?). So once we figure out who has the biggest/shortest/thickest one, do we know who is going to pleasure a woman the best? No, maybe she's a 21 year or virgin, maybe a porn star. See, unless you say what you are going to do with the tool, measuring it does not make much sense.

It's Friday we need some

But the tire is a factor and I have the busted up tailgate to prove it.

TJK

THANKS TODD! (Ooo on the tire. I fear that too on the 100!)

196 vs 203" I expected the 80 to be even smaller. Interesting.

OK, so that's why my 80 has an edge over my buddies. That's 18-inches of length difference. Well, now we just need Amando's # to see how that diff 's. I'd guess we could take 3-5 inches off Amando's truck if one was willing to do some frame cutting (though I haven't looked into this for sure).

So the differnece loaded is 7 inches. Wow, if I could get a 2nd 100 down to 7-inches longer than my cut 80 it be a wheeling maching. We'll wait to hear from Amando.

Amando's... Amando's... Amando... Amando's... (Amando)

Hate to break the news to you: Amando is already married and she doesn't nag.

Good for you. Don't scratch your bumper :)

I fear this thread is rapidly becoming a back door "why I can't bring the 100 to Moab" ramble.

If you want to wheel a small rig-buy a 40.

Otherwise the 80 and 100 are so similar in overall size and weight, that the broad expanses of Moab trails will not bother either and we all want to see your 100 in action after hearing how great it is for the last year. Amando did not shorten his 100 much, but instead copied the lines of the factory bumpers. He did invest some time and $ in getting it fully locked and that made a huge difference.

One other data point. We had a new 4 Runner on our Death Valley trip and the traction control worked great. We also had a Disco and the traction control sucked and allowed tons of wheelspin. If the 100 series TC works like the 4Runner's, you have no worries other than paint scrapes.

The real danger of not bringing the 100 to Moab, is that this same dead horse will continue to be merclessly flogged until Cruise Moab '06.

I get 197 inches from the back of the Slee bumper, to the front of the fairlead on the front of my ARB winch bar.

4" long and 1/2" diameter.

Ohh... we're not talking about penis sizes anymore? :flipoff2:

Every time shotts posts, I hear something like a kitten meowing...I really can't expain it...why a little kitten meowing?

Naw...that's too subtle.

Don't be a little p*ssy! Bring the 100.

On second thought...
You know what shottsy...bring the 80. Your attempts at talking your way out of the 100 at Moab are getting pretty old.

Bring the 80. Bang on the 80. Thrash the 80.

You really don't seem to have the huevos to bring the 100...(meow) :flipoff2:

*Not about Moab. That's decided already.

*Don't want a 40. I want a 2nd daily driver to keep the miles off our current Cruisers.

*Disco's TC works well (not as tight) though if they didn't have a center locker on the Disco (some years didn't) then the ride sucks. 100's trac is even tighter than a Runners. I'm fully locked though.

*It's about making a decision on which way to build. That's all. I'd hope I could get a 100 down to 185 inches. Amando's meansurement should supply that answer.

Hee hee...Huevos? Tell that to the people who wheel with me. They'll laugh at ya!

The 80's going. I'd be stupid to bring the 100 when I bought and built that 80 just for a place like Moab. It's about fun factor. It's not about impressing anyone unless it's myself. :)
The 80 will be a killer Moab-mobile so it's going.

You can see my wheeling huevos in the 80. :D

John, what about more custom suspension work for bigger tires? This way you get the desired effect of increased approach and departure angles AND more ground clearance over obstacles. I realize sizes like 38's are realatively unproven on 100's but why not?

Well, my current 100 is done. The only thing I'll do to it is regear it when a rear gear set becomes available. If that's never then it's done.

I'm done with my current 80 too. I have little invested in it, it goes about anywhere especially with the custom bumpers, and it'd cost too much to take it up a step (to say 5-in lift).

We have the 2004 Taco and want another Cruiser for a daily driver. If it's a lower mileage 80 then I'll ARB/Slee the sucker. If it's a 100 I'll cut the frames down, custom bumper it then beat the friggin' snot out of it. I'll only opt for another 100 though IF I can shrink the thing.

Going above 35's won't work as a daily driver without gears, there's nobody we can find to do custom lifts for it, so that's a losing process especially here in Tucson where we have no shops.
