Does anybody have any old 80 series coil springs kicking around? Old and bagged out is ok.... even broken would work. Preferably free or cheap. :hillbilly:

yes i do have a set of springs going to the island sept 21

Sweet how much $ or how many  do you want for them? Are they stock height?

Oh, also where are you living right now? (This is Jeremy right?) I could come pick them up in Vancouver earlier than Sept if that works...?

beer would be great I think the hight is higher then stock but nor my much I don't really know I live in calgary now but will be going to the island in sept
let me know if your intrested

The 4runners (90-95 or so) sag out in the back. The cheap fix for this seems to be adding 80 rear springs.... If you want to slam the 80 perhaps old 4runner springs would be an option. Shouldn't be to hard to find either.

No I don't want to slam it. I have a hair-brained idea which Ken thinks is crazy but I think it just might work. I want air bags right. No springs. But I don't want to modify my spring perches.......... because.......... well I don't really have a good reason. Basically I want the option to return to coil springs if I hate air bags. Or if I sell the truck. Or something.

So I'm thinking I cut the ends off some springs. Just enough to fit in the spring perches. Then I fabricate an air bag mount. Imagine the truck sitting on coil springs, except the middle section of the coil has been cut out and replaced with an air bag.

Obviously the danger is that a deflated bag could fall out of the truck. So I'm thinking a small bolt or even a tack weld would hold them in. So if I rip a bag on the trail, I just pull the bolts or grind off a couple tacks and swap in a new bag. Or if I buy a LHD 80 and swap in a diesel :D :D :D and sell my RHD 80 then I just pop the springs out, and pop in my bags on the new truck :D :D

Sweet man. Kinda nutz but cool.
I have found that running my air bag system has one downfall... but 1 only.
The bags have no resistance (ie friction) so even with the Bilstein's I need more damping. My plan is to add a few more leafs so the bags dont do as much work, thus adding some damping. Your truck, being coiled, you shouldnt notice much difference. I have seen tripple stack bags that might just bolt in (sort of) and give you all the travel you need. think they were in the "auto" section of a KMS tools flyer.

Whatever the case, air bags are great! I love mine, i just need to do some fine tuning.

Good luck Nathaniel.

Why not bags inside the springs? Just trying to understand what problem you're trying to fix.

If it ain't broke, fix it :) My problem is that 95% of the time my truck is inconveniently tall. But 5% of the time I wish it was even taller.
