I've owned by FZJ80 (1997) for almost a decade with only around 180k on the clock. To be honest, nothing out there in the market really does anything for me, so I decided to try and get my NSX specialist (ultimate two car solution) to restore it. Two years later and I believe most of the mechanical stuff has been sorted and we're maybe 60-70% through on the interior and cosmetic bits.
At this point, I have the car back but am looking for a specialty restoration shop that can pick up the project and close it out. My goal is to have the car at OEM+resto modded (happy to figure out exactly what that means with the shop). My mechanic who had the car before is putting together all the paperwork for what he did, so I can share it with a shop that can take on the project. However, I am looking for a reputable shop that can put together a list of what is needed, provide a schedule, and reasonably stick to it. I know things are going to move around a bit, but I am looking for someone who really knows these cars inside and out, has access to parts, and has the bandwidth to complete the project.
I am in the DC Metro area and would prefer to find somewhere local-ish (WV/VA/MD/DC/NC/PA), but would be open to shipping/driving the car out and back if that's the only option I have available.
