Lexus LX450 shipped to The Netherlands

Hi all!

1. Year and model: 1997 Lexus LX450
2. Name of owner: Marco
3. Name of rig: Lawrence (name tag was on the trunk lid)
4. Mileage: 132k when bought, today 139k
5. Mods: BFG AT tires, 2" emu, LPG conversion, 7-pin mod and CDL switch
6. How the truck is used: daily drive and always mud-hungry

Since a couple of months I own a Lexus '97 LX450, e-lockers on board. I shipped it over from the US to The Netherlands. I love the machine, couldn't find a decent 80-series over here, wandered around on eBay one night... and bought this LX. I took a gamble.

The gamble resulted in some surprises but in general this LX is a great buy. It was a 100% stock version. Tires were gone till the bone, rims were badly corroded. So, work had to be done!

Photo of original state:

Rims had to be powder coated and new tires were a necessity.

On this picture the tires have been put back on.

Then I discovered this forum and had a great laugh about someone's remark on running boards: "if your mother in law needs to get in your truck, buy a stool!". Excellent. I removed them right away ;).

Of course you all know these cars are thirsty. Over here petrol prices are sky-high. I want to use the car as a daily drive so I had an LPG conversion done. You can see a Youtube movie of the system here: Lexus LX450 - LPG Installed (Toyota Landcruiser 80 series) - YouTube

Then a friend of mine asked me to come along to Fursten Forest in Germany. It's a huge 4x4 park where you can really enjoy yourself. I sure wanted to come along but needed a lift kit prior to departure. Bought my self a 2" OME kit and had a nice day with the installation. The truck now looks like this:

For the (near) future I plan on mounting a snorkel. Also some rock sliders would be awesome.

I have already had a tremendous amount of insight and help through this forum. I hope to be able to contribute a few percentages of what i gain here. Thank you all!

DD, off road toy :)

i just moved to nashville tn about a week ago. im here attending Nashville Auto Diesel College. im 18 and this is my first time away from home. now this my second yota. i used to have a 98 4runner 4x4 limited with factory lockers. since i moved up here i figuered a nice 4x4 suv would be suit my needs. i managed to find me a 97 LX 450. this truck is in perfect condition inside and out. what can i say i love this damn thing.
i found a little mud and some ditches tonight and got a taste of her off road capabilities. all i can say is WOW i am really impressed and pleased with her. anyway im looking forward to meeting yall on here and learing all about my new trcuk

here are some pics of her after my fun.
i went through a pretty deep ditch and dug my drivers side corner of my bumper into the ground and bent it in a little. but luckily here on campus we have a collision repair center so i can get free body work done.
sorry for crappy cell quality, its all i got for now lol

New Guy - New Truck

Hi Folks -
First off, thanks to all of you who've taken the time and effort to make this a HUGE knowledge base for rookies like me. This is my first Land Cruiser (owned if for all of a week) and I have to say that I've fallen in love with the vehicle. Anyway, THANKS and here's my new baby:

1. Year and model: 1993 FZJ80

2. Name of owner: Paul

3. Name of rig: "The Army Truck" (so named by my youngest son as he thinks the Army should be using this).

4. Mileage: 163K

5. Mods...if any: New tires for now (285/75/16 - thanks for all the great info and numerous threads on tires!). I need to do a few other things (new hoses, new shocks, stuff like that) before I do anything else. Oh and I gotta get it smogged to transfer title so I have to get someone to fix the O2 and EGR - been driving around with the check engine light on.

6. How the truck is used: Rockhounding! And part-time daily driver. My Intrepid admirably fulfills the daily driver role most of the time but it was really unhappy on dirt roads where we go rockhounding. :D

I doubt I have to post any questions as it seems like everything's been asked and answered!

Thanks!
Paul
