The PO had put on these 4Runner take-offs, but he also had the original wheels, and I will be refurbing them. If you noticed, I actually joined this site 3 years ago and have admired these beasts from afar. After my '90 4Runner was totalled, after 13 years of service, I am now ready for the giant leap to owning an LC. This site is great, and I have learned sooo much already. The search button is my friend.;)

6. How the truck is used. Daily driver and future plans for light off road.

I want to keep it stock. I have never done any off road, but am planning on doing some light off road driving. I have really enjoyed the capability of the vehicle on road under severe weather conditions and want to see what it will do in stock form.

I've owned it since '96, used as a daily driver, and then I let my kids drive it in High School. It had gotten a little rough and I started fixing a few things. One thing led to another, and now I am "repossessing" it from the kids as I get it whipped into shape. Largely inspired from reading the MUD site. You can see the dent in front of the driver side tail light. My oldest daughter almost drove it through the garage. You can read the license plate in the drywall, and the brick is pushed out about 3 inches. My youngest just nicked the passenger side tail lamp.

Over the last week, I had a new power steering pump installed, new shocks and new tires. I ordered a steering wheel shroud cover. Took off the rusted running boards. I am in the process of doing a tune up, as well as having the fuel injector's cleaned. New front mud flaps. Future plans include fixing a couple of rust spots on the lift gate, maybe new leather in the front, and a new stereo. Oh yea -- the right passenger window isn't working for some reason-as of yesterday. And that's it. Maybe.

I took it out for a lengthy drive today and the ride/handling is spot on. I'm hoping that cleaning the injectors and the tune up will get the engine back to original conditions.

I was inspired by the engine quality. While looking for info on the web, I came across this. I'm figuring these things must be bullet proof.

Meanwhile, I haven't done any mechanical work since I fixed a water pump in the 80's. So we shall see how it works out.

4. Mileage: 192,000
5. Mods: Coming
6. Use: Making my two boys smile on trails.
I was looking for a versatile off road vehicle to take my kids trail riding. I bought a 1991 Bronco last week and decided within a day that it just wouldn't do. After lurking here for a few days, I decided that I needed a TLC. It just so happened that my brother had one that he pretty much only used to take his kids out on the beach at Fort Fisher NC. After a little discussion, I made the 8 hour round trip and worked a trade for my TLC yesterday.
So far, I've spent about 6 hours just cleaning it (it was FULL of sand from years of beach trips). The AC didn't work which made for a miserable trip back yesterday, so today I installed all new belts and now have ice cold AC. Aside from cleaning, I also painted the dingy/pitted wheels black.
Much more to come as soon as I sell one of my Mustangs.

I have to ask: Is this stock for an HDJ? If not, from what vehicle did you get this? Great location for a CB.
