Thanks for the write up. Couldn't decide on total regear or not. Leaning towards the marlin t case crawlers only now.

Great write up. I am dreading an upcoming 300 mile round trip wheeling weekend (always trailer) that I am doing this weekend. Guess I shouldn't worry. I have spare oem fronts. That's all I'm really worried about

One other thing i would add, and i'm not joking...... Windshield cleaner!

The cleaner you put in the washer bottle just doesn't do it. After hours and hours of bugs dyeing on your windshield, then being baked on by the sun, it got to where it was hard to see out of the windshield. I could clean the windshield at the gas station when i topped off, if they had water in the cleaner tub thingy... but i eventually stopped at a parts store and picked up some windshield cleaner spray and a roll of paper towels. I also used Rain-x on the windshield. That made a HUGE difference.

I have got to agree. Starting with clean windows inside and out at the beginning of a trip, and then keeping them clean pays multiple dividends on long trips. My energy level gets drained enough when spending 10 (to 20) hours behind the wheel; squinting into the sun or oncoming headlights, straining to see what is front of me takes its toll. And of course it is safer too. The water buckets with window squeegees at gas stations here in the western US leave a lot to be desired, and the dutiful gas station guys in Mexico (it is customary to tip them btw) rarely end up doing a great job on my windows.

one of the best parts of the 80 series IMO is the LARGE windows and viewing area, it just makes driving it across vistas that much more enjoyable. For whatever reason cars are not made that way any longer, less glass and less viewing area. Have you ever been in a toyota fj cruiser? very small windows and viewing areas.
