Dnp, I do see in my owners manual that the low oil light is what I'm seeing. Which just makes me more confused because I checked the oil last night and the level is fine.

On my 80, the oil light comes on when it is 1 quart low.....which occurs about every 1000 miles.
Bessie, same same...

I wanna hear more about this coolant loss. You will want to pressure test the system and look for leaks in places like the PHH, lines to rear heater, etc. Might want to test for a failing head gasket (sure hope that isn't the case though). Good luck!

Bessie getting right!

Today I checked the oil level on a level surface and, sure enough, it is low. Last night when I checked it was on the sloping part of my driveway. IDIOT. So I added some oil and, sure enough, the low coolant light went off. That's right, I'm stickin to my guns and calling it a low coolant light. And sure enough, it took about a quart to get the oil level back to where it's supposed to be.

As for the coolant issue, I guess I'm gonna need to get CT to hook it up to the machine. I hope it's just something wrong with the plastic overflow bottle or its connection to the radiator. That bottle empties pretty quick.

I think you would be finding water in your oil if there was a headgasket leak. I remember the firewall hoses looked as if they had been replaced at some point. Hopefully the pesky heater hose was replaced too. I never actually looked.

Not necessarily so. A head gasket starting to go can result insome consumption of coolant in the combustion process before it starts to contaminate the oil. Early signs are usually air bubbles in the overflow bottle ar moderate rpm, white smoke from the exhaust, a sweet smell to the ehaust, and plugs that look as though they have been steam cleaned.

What is encouraging is that fact that the coolant is going away quickly. this, to me, would indicate a lilelihood that the problem is in the cooling system. Either a hose, water pump, radiator, etc. Keep an eagle eye out and it will show up.

I need to replace the starter contact in my 80. CDan wants to know if the starter is a 1.4 or 2.0 KW starter.

Any easy way to tell? I can pull it, but that will give me more down-time...it still starts, but it has the symptoms.
