Not sure if OEM or not, saw one that the flat strap gripped the tailgate lip & also did the same on the gate lip down below.

It was a 2-piece unit that slipped together & a bolt ran thru the pipe under the lowest rung tying the pieces once fully seated top & bottom.

Saw it on a local RHD imported pre-‘Rona, seller of 80 didn’t know the source, but it was well made & fit w/ the JDM spare swingout & stock size tire on rim.

Yea, I've seen different versions of them. I think these were a dealer installed option back in Japan that came with the aluminum roof rack.

Don’t be surprised if you end up buying a grey bar & using SEM ‘light oak’ bombcan.

IIRC, the Oak ones (even used) were going for sillly $$ even used a decade ago - but I hink there’s still a vendor with some Grey NIB.

Don’t quote me on that NIB status - I’ve had one in my ‘to do’ box for about that decade timeline
