Have a 97 Cruiser. I have replaced all the bushings, etc except the coil springs. Vehicle doesn't track like it used to and I think it needs new coils. I would like a good quality OEM spring without lift or additional weight capacity. Toyota no longer makes the real coils, what would be a good source for OEM like springs? Sherwood

Sherwood,

I am seeing both front and rear available on the parts sites. How are you looking them up? The base numbers are: 48231 - rear; 48131 Front R and 48132 Front L.

Also, if your truck isn't tracking it is unlikely that the coils are the root cause.

Here are a couple threads with like symptoms:

What do you mean by tracking?

Replacing bushings should only help, not hurt

Shocks and springs handle up and down motion, not side to side. (However, the wrong shocks or springs can make a vehicle move weird)

I'd look at the the panhard bar.

I really like Dobinsons springs, but I don't remember what options they have for stock height.

Have replaced all the bushings, steering damper, shocks, checked the front wheel bearings, installed new tie rod ends. Car has 125k miles but 29 years on those springs. Can’t imagine what else could be the problem. Also every where I look Toyota rear coils are discontinued and out of stock. Haven’t found after mkt shocks that don’t have lifts or additional weight capacity?

Could you describe the problem a little more?

You said "like it used to". When was "used to" (mileage/year) and what has changed?

Does the body sway side to side? or does it roll side to side? Does the suspension seem 'soft'?

Yes, and you should be able to get pretty much any spring and cut it to the height you want.

Not the most sanitary way, but if the shortest springs are still too long, then this might be a good option.
