Nelson,

Will you please wash your junk before you post pics of it?? :flipoff2:

Well done! Thats what I had planned to do before I opted for my current setup .. I will probably still swap in new wheels, but with the 1.5" wheel spacers I have I'll probably stick with 8-9" wheels.

Great looking 80

TY

Mmmmm.....black rims......drool.

I used to run 33/12.5R15s on 15x8 rims but with similar backspacing as your 10s. They were great off road with the wider track and like yours I reckoned they looked horny with the black rims and wide stance. I sold them and went back to standard steel wheels( black of course ) with 285/75R16s because I couldn't handle the ill handling of the offset rims anymore. Bump steer has been eliminated and I haven't twisted my sector shaft since going back to OEM backspacing. Am missing the stance but I still have the black rims.

Very nice rig. I also live in Norfolk. I think me and another guy with a 40 are heading down to Corolla tomorrow for a beach ride maybe we could go trail riding together sometime. I haven't really got to wheel my 40 much yet. I probablly should get rid of the 30" tires first. But good to know there is another mud member locally.

Tyler, thanks, your setup is nice!

Mickldo I know what you mean my truck handles so differently now.

that would be cool, wes1977

Hit the mountain very hard today for several hours, and the verdict is... it rubbed once. Probably not good for a rock guy, cuz that means it will rub again. But for the mud mountain guy it was great fun. Anyway, maybe I will bump it up another inch to see if that helps.

The best part of the day was on the way home, a big rig with 50' trailer got stuck in a tight asphalt turn on the mountain, ran off the road, lost traction, couldn't get back on. Blocked off the road for an hour waiting for a tow truck. The lady driver shouldn't have been anywhere near that tiny road. I pulled up in my little 80 with mud tires, hooked her with my M12000 cable and pulled her out! It was great.

Very nice! I am running the 33x12.50 Trxus (love them) on 10x16 steelies w/ 4.5" backspacing. The only difference is I have the "J" lift and no flairs...

sweet setup, Nelson. thats' a great look!

.......downtown Norfolk is really taking shape isn't it ?

Heck yea !......I am pumped !!

I am over all the :censor: here! Time for me to drop this "living" and go get a 'lifestyle'. Just waiting on the house selling and moving around some heirlooms, then packing up the CRUSHER and I am on a road trip !

Sweet Chad, with the 12.5" wheels you get the wider stance, and yet I'll bet you're not rubbing at all.

They will rub just a bit at full flex, but not enough to limit flex. It just squeeks a bit and cleans off the dirt!

As for the flairs, I got sick of trying to reattach them. They weren't removed for looks!:flipoff2:

Ok, so dumb question here but....
16x10 with 4" backspacing or 16x8 with 4" backspacing for all purpose stuff?
I still gotta go to the mall every now and then.

imo put the flairs back on...

IMO clean up the paint where the flares used to be and plug the holes. Your rig just got a whole lot narrower.

It is not an outlandish setup, but in case anyone is looking at doing something similar, here are some non-native terrain pics showing the results on my ride. I am pleased with how this turned out. Thanks to Slee for subbing the medium load rear springs when I called to order the heavy load kit.

Suspension Kit:
- OME 850 front springs
- OME 860 rear springs
- 2 x N73, 2 x N74E Nitrocharger Shocks

Wheels:
- Rock Crawler Series 97 16" x 10" rims (4" back spacing)
- Interco Super Swamper TrXus M/T Radial 33" x 12.5" x 16 tires

Coming soon:
- steel replacement rear bumper
- sliders

what an awesome set up. this is exactly how I want mine to look one day.

FWIW, here's my 16x10s, but with 315/75s, OME 2.5 and Delta VS 4" arms.

You can buy the wheels here: Black Rock Series 942 Type D Matte Black Wheels 942616040

The 10" width makes a massive visual difference compared to running same tires on the typical 8-9" you see on the market. It looks markedly wider with insane dish and the poke beyond fenders is just right in my eyes. The timeless D-windows is my fav truck wheel design of all time akin to BBS y-spokes for sports cars. The steelies also match up well with the classic 80s looks.

Disclaimer is I use mine soley as an urban pavement brawler w/ few exceptions.

that is nice. I wish I had that. I would but on a 100 im limited to a 2.5 lift. will those tires rub at all? do you have to have a-arms to make that work?
