79 Rear Frame Repair & Leaf Spring Gusset Differences

Hello hive mind. I have a 79 with the typical rear frame rot in the rear that I’m going to have replaced utilizing the cruiser solutions or manafre frame sections.



My question is in regards to the rear leaf spring gusset and spring perch replacement. If I use the post 8/80 style for the larger bushing on the 79 frame will everything will play nice in regards to fitment and rear suspension.



From my understanding the front spring perch of the rear was unchanged between 79-82 model years that have the different style frame.



Also how does this change what to order for rear leaf springs I would assume you would have to order suspension for an 8/80+ model to accommodate the larger style bushings?

I am pretty sure the hole size and retaining bolt pattern are different for the spring pin for 8/80+ Land Cruisers.

I believe you are right. These are the reproductions produced by cruiser solutions for a visual. But in theory the frame is the same for 79+ models so the 8/80+ gusset should bolt on as well?

You can bolt that on but the other end where the spring pin goes will be a problem unless you swap that too. Also then you will have different bushings than the front srpings meaning you would have to order front and rear springs separately. That’s a pretty good price. Wish I had gotten the whole thing then I replaced them on my 79. I just got the gussets and reused my spring hangers.

Fair point. Better to keep it the simple approach then and just get the corresponding year. Otherwise my kids will get tired of dealing with mismatched when they inherit it and sell it.
