I don't repair radiators unless they are the early straight fin ones and you really have no choice. I normally do the Champion 3 or 4 core if the customer is wanting something better than stock. Stock if they care about resale value.

Is this the kind you are talking about, better than stock?

Can you explain more about the early radiators?

My 64 still had the original, so I am curious.

Have 3 new OEM rads in the shed........couldn't help myself ;)

I live in Miami and my OEM rad has seen better days. Debating going the same route you took if I can find a good rad guy here. What kind of a turn around did you have for yours?
Turnaround was 2 days, including install---

I am of the opinion there is nothing better than stock. This is aluminum--you will pay for the cheap-ness down the road--Al/O2 in the engine - you will have a hard time getting out--acid clean will get most of it out, but it will take the steel with it--it will also "pocket" the steel surfaces, creating small pits that will increase the surface area for corrosion to form in----stick with OEM
