I've wanted a cruiser for years now. I regularly check Craigslist and dream, as well as read up on builds here. :p

I've finally got enough spare cash/income laying around, that I found and looked at a cruiser in the area.

My main concern is rust, I know it's a PITA and $$$. Other then the rust, the truck seems mostly mechanically sound. Been talking with the guy and he wants $1750 for it. Worth it as a long term project or should I save my money?

More pictures to come when I get them.

My opinion is the decay is too accelerated for a resto or DD build, unless there's some attachment to that one, specifically.

That said, maybe offer less and consider it a future parts Pig for a better specimen and use the time in between now and acquiring a less rotted body to familiarize yourself with.

They have an amazing ability to conceal rot and having not followed the above advice, unless you're a metal magician, have all kinds of time, and patience, my experience is it's better to begin with as solid a base as possible.

I'm with Delancy...plus, I prefer pre-smog Pigs

Patience, then, is the only answer we can give at the moment...

As much as I want one of these things, I need to find one that is just right.

Patience, then, is the only answer we can give at the moment...

and patience is the answer once one finds you, since none are right without a lot of it.

I figure i'll end up with a 40 or 55 at some point in the next few months. :grinpimp:

Honestly, man.

If you've not come to the conclusion as to which, my unsolicited advice is to focus on the finding the right 40.

There's lineage present, down to the strands of DNA, but Pigs are a different animal that feed at a rate two to two and a half times any other.

I'm fond of the 40 series for the lineage and classic looks, but I love the Pigs for their quirky uniqueness and garish visage.

"...I love the Pigs for their quirky uniqueness and garish visage."

Methinks there a sig line there.

Being from the Northeast, this truck does not look too bad. The big issue is the frame solid or repairable or not? Body panels can be repaired.

From the pictures, the frame does not look too bad. Any leaks into the interior?

Are you planning to wheel the truck or attempt a complete resto?

My first 55 was from upstate NY where salt on the roads ends up as rust on everything.

Personal decision but from a Northeast perspective, it has possibilities.
