So, I was able to trade some parts for a running 76 FJ55. :) Cool story about the guy who it was given to: Today is a lucky day-Check this out! - Rising Sun Member Forums

So, seeing as how my 74 engineless but solid body project is not selling, and this 76 seems solid as far as the 2f, 4 speed, disc brakes, etc goes but obviously has some body rust issues (but the interior and floor is in great shape)....my evil brain started thinking about combining them and selling the leftover parts. The 74 also has a title, the 76 title is lost.

Thoughts? Ideas? Pleas for common sense?

76 drivetrain and axle swap into the 74? or swap better body parts onto 76?

76 has bad front fenders, rear wheel wells, lower sill, and tailgate. doors and interior are solid.

Timm, you know the answer ...the 74 body onto the 76 frame + running gear then sell the left over parts and + you have a killer rig!.......not that much difference tween a 74 and a 76 just my 0.02.........glad to see the "redhead" saved;

That would be a fun and awesome project!! Only problem is I bought FrontRange4x4's 69 pig, and would rather spend my time and cash making that pig even better. I do want to add a running 40 to my herd....either sell the 76 and 74 together or trade them for a decent 40?? OR if not I just need to find some storage for a few months until I have some more time....

Thanks all....we are definitely having a Pig Run in Colorado this year!

I am going to start getting the 76 fixed up, then start figuring out how to combine them. :)I will also consider offers to sell them together....a great combo! :)

The 76 was dropped off yesterday. Applying for a lost title, but wanted to see how she drove. Ran very rough and idled up and down a lot when I drove her to the gas station Friday night, and added 10 gallons of clean gas and some various "fuel conditioners". . Today I fixed a vacuum leak and now she starts up right away and idles just fine. Drove to get a new battery and then to get groceries, runs and drives like it has been on the road the last 10 years, not sitting in a field! I put some steelies on with some not great tires, and swapped over a few small things from the 74. Had a guy look at the 74 today, and also have someone wanting to buy a bunch of parts off the 74, so not sure what I want to do. Will post pics tomorrow.

OK, guess it is decided...with little to no serious interest n the 74 pig, I am going to combine the best of the 2 trucks into one solid pig and sell the rest of the parts. If you need anything, just let me know. I am pretty excited...last night in 10 degree weather I started her up to drive to the gym...a little rough at first, but drove great on the roads once I locked the hubs and went to 4wd high...can't wait to get the rust replaced and paint. :) Thanks all for your advice and info. Look forward to being a 2 pig owner...or trading 1 for a 40. ;)

Now if I could only get my 80 back from insurance hell...

Don't drive it in the snow, it will get all rusty!

Oh, wait...

Sigh.....I keep forgetting I have a great 69 Pig I will be picking up soon. :) I am going to start fixing the 76 up, but want to sell it to get a 40 or trade it.

I am parting out the 74 and adding parts of it to the 76 and the 76 is for sale or trade

Tim, might be easier to sell the 74 as it has a title.....just my thoughts on possible headaches down the line.........

Lou

x2, anytime selling a vehicle in one piece is easier than pulling parts, shipping, disposing of the body, etc.
