I have a 1970 body on a late 73 frame couple washers on front engine mounts and everything clears. What you do with the steering column is a whole other thing. I put in a 74 steering column with a bracket to the firewall to hold it until I weld in a proper firewall bracket.

Tail lights would be different as well but the 74 frame will make using a four speed a lot easier. Like mentioned above I used washers on the front motor mounts when I added a four speed to my 68 FJ40. Slight angle down at the back the four speed clears the back of the transmission cover opening with out modifying anything. The drum on the hand brake of the back of the transfer case barely clears the torque tube. 74 frame the torque is a little further back and shaped to clear the hand brake.
