That pic is actually of the top that came with it . the red top is one i bought from a guy in the mud classifieds it has zero rust holes . i have allready contacted the media blaster for quick clean up and epoxy . yours will be used eventually to rebuild a spare top since i allready have everything.

btw how are you posting pics . i attached the first set easy but now i am having difficulty . :crybaby:

We talked about having the next meeting at your house to bust all the rusted bolts on your 73. If you would want, why not post a (work on my rig day). Let me know.

I take pictures with my phone, then email them to myself on the phone, then move them from email to a desktop file then when im making a post i goto manage attachments, browse desktop, and then upload them..........

probably an easier way to do it then that:rolleyes:

Just came in from the garage i got both non fj front seats mounted the gask tank guard rebuilt and mounted all the broken bolts drilled out. what a pain in the :censor:. i hope to get the rear doors on tommorow their are no holes in my tub they were filled or replaced with new metal . as for the work day that sounds good to me :D i need to get a few things on order before then . i would like to have the tub off before the end of jan . but i need to order and weld up the cage before i pull it.

well i have made some progress . got the cage done today . i decided to not buy the metal tech cage shipping was the deal breaker . so my buddy Jimmy and i went to work on this one. i did not get any pics of it in the tub but it looks great. :D if anyone wants one let me know while the plans are still in his mind . i also got my lift ordered this week but it will not ship until the last week in jan :crybaby: but theres plenty to do in the mean time .

Looking good Rob!!

Might have to recruit some help on my cage,I cant use your design because I have no tub for that rear section to mount to,but it looks like you know what your doing:cheers:

Well my harbor freight pipe bender that I built my buggy with is so lame compared to jims protools with hydro assist. It’s
Way easier to use. Jim said $ 500 for a cage and well worth it compared to the metal tech at $554 +200 shipping and you still need to weld and fit the tube after you get it . it can be changed to your design. this is how I wanted mine . :grinpimp:you can use weld in plate gussets if you want.

You think if I bring my buggy out to him he could make my cage?

Mine will be a little different...needs to go directly on the frame

Once I get some money together maybe he could stop over and check it out sometime?

Thanx again,Rob

he is capable of building aything you want . when your ready we can email a few pics to him and your cage idea . he lives in uniontown

i finally got all of the metal work finished what a pain my windshield frame and hatch was worse than i thought  im glad that was the extent of my rust repair. thankfully my tub is basically ready to paint .

the top side panels / hood and hatch and cross brace and everything i loaded up and ready to go to the media blaster. i also figured it needed a bath to get the road salt off. next step paint the cage so i can get it out of the garage then pull the tub

well i worked on pulling my tub last fri until my power went out . i just got it lifted up when the lights went off. my power returned to me this thur evening . since then i have installed my lift and started cleaning up the frame for paint and pulled my motor out . i need to fab up a transfer case mount . i dont really care for how its supported now .

i really cant wait to start putting things to gether instead of pulling them apart .i did get the cage and gas tank cover painted

Looking good man!

Did I understand right ....6 days without power!!!

I didnt see a generator or welder/generator in your shop pics but hopefully you had one!

We had to run ours for 30 hours but 6 days seems crazy!!!!

the only thing i did with the power out was put on the rear lift . i had one full tank of air for the impact and the rest was good ol fashioned wrenchin  my generator was hooked to my travel trailer, we lived in that and just kept the fireplace going in the house to keep the pipes from freezing

the frame and motor are all cleaned up painted and out of the garage finally. cleaning painting and putting everything together really takes up the time:frown:, but i feel the results were worth it . i got all of my panels from the media blaster a week or 2 ago deffenitally money well spent . i stripped out most of the tub this afternoon i hope to have to have the bottom cleaned and recoated by the end of next weekend .:D
