Working through my rebuild of a 71 FJ 40. To the point of the windshield wiper motor. Is there a difference that make the 71 so expensive? Is there any other wiper motors that will work? Thanks for all your help.

Sometimes you just have to take it apart. Idk if this is helpful or not.

Thread 'Developed a way to rebuild windshield wiper motor a 1971 FJ40!'

Good news! Whomever needs help with rebuilding a 1971 fj40 windshield type motor need not worry, I now have all the equipment needed to rebuild a motor brand new. From the motor to the magnets. I will show an example of what the motor looked like in my iron horse before and a after pic. Pics will be up, only after I have the motor completely dry from the paint it just got. Just wanted to help the other FJ40 owners know for this type of motor that you are not screwed since no one sells them brand new. I honestly dont get why they are not sold new like the other years. Pics will be up...

Fairly straight forward, lots of pictures on here. Watch out there is a small ball bearing on the end of the motor shaft that will fall off and you will never know it existed.

Thank you but I have the whole wiper assembly without a motor
 
Have you checked the classified section. I think theres a couple of folks that restore the units. You may find one that needs work. I doubt you'll find just the motor.
