Do you see a sleeping platform on top too??
I'm not specifically familiar with the mining vehicle regulation. Is it emissions? Or do they alter the vehicle in other ways that interferes with DOT use?
They were never intended for on highway/roads usage, so they were able to import them for private use for industry.
The problem isnt buying used surplus so much as making it street legal.
The "easy way" (that may be a bit of an oxymoron) to make that thing street legal would be to swap the drivetrain and body onto an 80 series frame.
Sometimes they shift them into low gear, and bolt a plate to block them from shifting to high gear, in order to keep vehicle speeds safe on site, amongst other mine mod's.
They are street legal in Australia and they cost $70,000 new
Hey Jeff - Just met this Swiss couple in the Safeway parking lot and they had an amazing '93 pick-up camper conversion.

There's was the tan one. '93 would be legal here, maybe some inspiration? They're headed over to BC soon.
Edit: Said they were on MUD - maybe 70's section. Besides the rig - the coolest mod was Lithium batteries for starting (24V) and 200 AH house bank. 1/2 the size and weighed nothing! Supposedly cycle 2000 times before problems.

Ah... Ok... For some reason I thought you could get the 70s in Canada and that these were imported ones that just went to the mines.
Well you sorta can get them in Canada. As long as it's a 1997 or older then it can imported so yes you can import a 70 series. Aside from that there is a Canadian model BJ70 which was sold from 1985-88. Could be wrong on the 1988 thing but it's something like that.
