Is this airbox common? (Air inlet on fender side of airbox vs engine side) ...... Thanks

This was the one I had on my FJ73. It had that little snorkel thing that sucked hot air off the radiator:hillbilly:

It's now obvious that Toyota chose to use a variety of airboxes in their 1990/1991 diesel Cruisers. Installing a snorkel on those with my style of airbox is somewhat challenging.

Perhaps it's as simple as needing to clear the washer bottle. (1991 HZJ77)

And do be careful... there are a number of different boxes with different inlets based on a number of market-specific factors. Non-snorkeled 7x trucks will have a different box than snorkeled versions and different engine iterations will have different inlets as well. The best option would be to try to find an HZJ75 air box as almost all of them had snorkels.

This adapter allowed me to connect my airbox to the Safari snorkel.

Sorry, I have a daily routine that includes drinking coffee which more times than not leads to a bowel movement however at no time during this process do I spend time on Wikipedia. Perhaps I should expand my horizons.
Photo #1 in this thread shows a portion of the adapter while the rest resides inside of the fender and can not be photographed. I guess you'll have to trust me when I say it is "doing what it does." :)
