It's just you Oregon.

Very likely! :) But by 'just me' do you mean that other brands can throw a topo on the screen? I understand that I'm asking this question to a guy who has a very nice Ipad on a mount an has no use for built-in maps.

car stereo equipment isn't an investment

exactly why I put it in 'quotes'.

just an ebay special. I have no desire to spend a bunch on car stereo anymore and the namebrands will cost 3x as much for similar features. I use my DroidX for navigation, so I really wanted a indash DVD player with blutooth phone/stereo capability.

I picked up this model and will sell the other one on craigslist/ebay to recoup most of the money back. I had a feeling that the rotating screen was going to be a problem and this works better because it has a volume knob. :grinpimp:

well . the second unit arrived DOA. It boots up, but the screen is non responsive :bang:

Looks like I'll be buying the more expensive namebrand unit afterall.
Only 19, 20, and 31 MUST be hooked up for it to turn on and function. i have everything soldered properly and still nothing. :bang:

This is what happens with this pos. The screen stays stuck on the center logo, then the red boxes appear when you touch the screen. Nothing else happens.

Eclipse is basically plug and play dudes, it's the way to go IMO.

Exactly how is Eclipse basically plug and play? They ship with Toyota harnesses as standard? By the way you know Eclipse is gone right?

Any reputable vendor with a double DIN head unit is "basically plug and play".

On the three 2-Din units I've had (Two Kenwoods, and my current Eclipse AVN726E), none have necessitated the trimming of the plastic bezel/surround.

Yes, Eclipse has exited the consumer market and is only focusing on the OEM market (Lexus, Toyota, etc). Too bad, they made sweet head units.

That was my earlier point to Bama (and later pointedly to KYOSO) about name brand units, they all fit.

I've had 2 or the Eclipse and enjoyed them.

Depending on the unit (like the one I bought which was sold as an aftermarket dealer option), most of the wire harnesses plug right in without harness adapters. Even the steering wheel controls. Mine completely plugged right in until I decided to add amps and stuff. Eclipse/Fujitsu Ten I believe actually makes the OEM navigation used in Toyota/Lexus vehicles. Sad to hear they're done with the aftermarket stuff.

Good for you. Looks nice.

I finally did what I should have done from the beginning and installed a nice kenwood unit.

sweet! what model? Now you can hop over to the Electronic Toys section for the topo map upload details.

ah, so no nav?

Nice! I also like the console with the wood removed.
