Hey everyone. It has been quite a few years since I’ve posted. About 13 I think. I’ve decided to get back to working on my cruiser. I’m looking to put some 4.56 or 4.88 78’ K10 axles on it with upgraded brake booster and master. I’m wanting to keep my stock 3 n the tree shifter. My brother has a machine shop. Is the pitman arm with the stock steering box the only hang up to make that setup work?

Why?

Disc brakes. Parts availability. Widened stance. Sprung under with 33’s. Keep the column shifter and stock steering because it’s h pique and I don’t want to swap to a floor shifter and different column.

For my money I'd swap in a 4 speed and do 4 on the tree. Mark @65swb45 pioneered the idea and then there was even a run of them made.

3 speeds are marginal with a SBC... not saying they don't hold up if treated reasonably well, but while you're at it a 4 speed is far stronger.
