I picked up front disc axel from Mark, and just got done painting it. I really haven't done much lately, been busy with work and school. I'll post some pictures when I get a chance.

Here are some pics of the front disc axel I painted. Mark dropped it off a couple of months ago. I used Eastwood Chassis Black. It came out alright.

Sent the frame off to sand blasting place. Hopefully I can get it back before this weekend. I can use a long 4th of July weekend to paint it.

Mocking up the tranny. It's sitting higher than I thought. The transfercase shifter is pretty close to hitting the floorboard and it's hitting the side of the tranny hump. I need to make some adjustments.

The 73-78 FJ40 transmission covers are a close fit and are taller than your FJ45 transmission cover. Probably find someone local to let you borrow one to see if it will help you or not. I'm planning on using one in my FJ45 but I haven't mock fitted it yet. My plan is to use a A440F (FJ62 tranny) with a split case but that's not set in stone.

Thanks for the info. I thought about doing a body lift too. We'll see what happen after I put the body on again.

Go for it Stu! 1" body lift made a big difference on my 45 and the red one that I've been building for 45dude.

And, in case I forgot to mention it before, your price is.........FREE! Call me over to the house when you've got things ready to bolt back together, get some beers rounded up, and I'll bring some of my poly spacers with me.;)

Sounds like fun Mark. I'll definately give you a call. I still have a lot to do before I can mount the body on. Thanks for showing me that one different transmission mount. I went back to Spector and exchanged mine with the one you showed me. It's gonna be a lot easier to make the crossmember now.

I finally got the rolling chassis back from sandblasting place last week. It took a little longer than I thought. They said they've got some kind of machinery stuck inside thier blasting boot. They did pretty good job, except they blasted part of my rims too, but they offered me to paint them for free. I might have to pay extra to powder coat them. Right now, I'm almost done prepping the frame for paint. Hopefully I can get it painted by this weekend. BTW those extra springs sitting on the frame are 2.5" lift springs from Mark.

Would take a spezial chassis paint they use in the truck industrie.
Don`t know what you have in the States.
In Germany Mercedes have a real good chassis paint for their trucks.
Cheers
Peter

.... and a special primer for the chassis paint I think.

I'll be using the KBS Rust Seal and Black Top to get solar resistance. I heard they're similar to POR15. A friend of mine used KBS for his restoration. It turned out pretty good.

I wanted to change the wheel bearings since I have it apart but I didn't have the right tools to make that happen . The bearings doesn't look and feel that bad at all, so I decided to reuse them for now.

The frame is ready for paint. I'm going to try the Eastwood's Internal Frame Coating for inside the frame.

Looks like you are making some good progress.

If I had a frame that far down and it was needing rust protected and paint, I would have it powder coated. I honestly could not believe how much paint I used doing my rig. I think it was $700 for the blasting/etching primer and paint. I could have had it blasted, power primered and powder coated for $380.
