Bought this 65 LB for my 16 yr. old son. I am looking to keeping it as stock as possible. Should I keep 100% original or put in a later 2f, upgrade the brakes and possible power steering.

He really wants my red 67, but it's my baby.

Mike,

Make it stop and steer. Did the same thing for my son on a 40.

Agreed.:)

Power brakes a MUST; power steering optional. If you give him some 235x75x15 tires on stock rims, he'll be able to steer well enough with the stock components, AND you'll be assured he won't spend too much time on the freeway with it!:steer:

That, and some good bumpers.;p

Let him 'negotiate' for the rest of the upgrades.;)

You guys don't really think we're buying this do you?...

Dom,

Once you have kids, you will understand. It is called an end-around, the wife never sees it coming!!! The next thing she knows, you are spending money and driving another cruiser :grinpimp:

for a kid

If it was my kid, I would put front disc brakes, and a 3 point seat belt on it to keep them out of the steering wheel when they hit something; which they will. Absolute minimum.
Then probably big front bumper.
Would also go through the front end to make sure it steers like it should. For a boy I would leave manual steering; let him build up his arms!

Full coverage and an appraisal..

I wish my dad got me a classic long wheel base crusier when I was a kid.

The above quotes are true. Give him a jeep for his first couple of years to distroy then give him a cruiser. :D

Dom:

Still sitting in the garage. For some stupid reason, I agreed to be union president so any spare time I might of had is gone. We are starting 48/96 later this month, but it looks like they are coming for us. Hope to get started soon, my son turns 17 next month.

Take care and say hi to the SM crew.

Mike
