Any update on getting an 80 tailgate to work on? I will see if I can find one here in Hong Kong...but the shipping may be a bit high...

Actually I have a very good line on an 80 tailgate. Things look good for that.
My laser cutter contacted me yesterday to let me know that my set of trial 6* series 1/4 panels was ready to pick up. So that is moving along as well.
And I have been slowly working down the list of 6* tailgates and making another batch to keep moving on those.
So far (with being very busy at work and in life at the moment) I have been shipping out tailgate lids at the rate of about 2 a week, which I am trying to improve.
I think I really need to set up a website, with all the information in one place and simplified ordering.

Thanks for the interest.
I will start a thread for 1/4s, and another one for 80s lids soon. :bounce:

I am so juiced that I might actually get on of the first 10!!
Go ahead and add me to the list for 1/4's....not that I really need it....but then again I don't NEED Scotch or cigars either but.....:D

holy crap,i wasn't expecting this to be so close.i'm almost next in line .if i hold does that mean i start from the bottom again.i was hoping this won't come up till after holidays.let me know. john:D

Step aside you holders and passers, this payer wants the product. You slackers are holding up the process. Step aside.
Happy Thanksgiving and Merry Chrsitmas. Now get outta my way!!!
Hope my tax refund comes in early.
Old 3FE list joke.

Only 17 more in front of you Steve.
Don't you need a driveable cruiser to put it in anyway? :D
(Pops made me write that)

mep1811, gotcha down for both. You've been on the tailgate list for awhile, so look up from the bottom of the list a bit.

woo hoo, only 39 people in front of me :crybaby:

I'm surprised we haven't seen people brokering delivery positions!

Update moved over from the chit-chat in Tech thread:

I do have another 10 tailgates in production, I have been dragging my feet a bit in order to get a plastic lid option going. And in the middle of that, my welder bit the dust! I am back up and running now with a new welder (and a plasma cutter, just 'cause it was so cool)

And, I have been getting parts made for variations of the 1/4s. They are much more custom that the tailgates. So far I have had to design around the presence or lack of:
Rear seat belts
Speakers
Washer bag
Vinyl wheel well trim
Cable opening gas door
Expansion chamber
Interior plastic trim (I think I've got it to work with either in this case)
Most of these things change the outer profile, but between the 60 and 62 the entire door assembly has to change to accommodate the seat belts.

So I have been making progress on that front, but the holiday season combined with getting our truck all spiffed up for a road trip on the 1st has slowed things up quite a bit. (that part is selfish, I know )

I have also been trying to make a website to put all this info on, that way I can have a Mud banner add that will actually link to something. This whole thing is getting kinda serious, and I don't want to be a forum free-loader.

any update on the "list"?

I'm chomping at the bit here and tired of looking at my jumper cables on the floor board!!!;)

How about a 100 Tailgate???
Can be a complete tailgate as well! ;)

PayPal no Problem and I will send Courier to collect! :bounce:

Not to worry fellas, both of yours are being made (OCHO4I, you're just squeaking in on this run though :D)
I am running into complications with the plastic lids, so as long as you are ok with the coated plywood I should be shipping this month, if you want plastic it might be next month.
I am out of town at the moment (out of the country actually) but will be back in the shop soon!

Oh, and a 100 lid? huh, never even seen a 100 tailgate. I will look at it, but it is important to take care of these 60s before they rust out. :grinpimp:

Oh Boy!!! The coated plywood version is fine with me. (I'm already deciding what I'll store in the new storage area.) I'll be awaiting your PM when you get back stateside!!:grinpimp:

plywood GREAT!!!

MDF or OSB BAD:flipoff2:

Looking forward to your PM and funds are waiting!!
