There was mention in another thread I believe that yes, they come lubed with what is needed and that is all, no need for a full packed joint.

Thanks! I was just worried since they look different than any other.

Put some on last year be sure you paint them start to rust fairly quickly.

Do the 555 tie rods still need painting? If so what’s the process to paint them and with what product? Ordered the full tie rod end kit from cruiseroutfitters. Many thanks.

Likely best would be a quality epoxy primer, then automotive grade black, finished with a couple of coats of satin clear coat to better match the factory sheen. PPG is good stuff, but there are other good options. Personally would just hose them with Krylon satin black, or not, rust isn't much of an issue where mine lives.

Do I have to prep sand them before the krylon spray? Live in SoCal so not concerned about rust. Many thanks tool!

I don't think sanding is in order but a good oil degreaser along with a good primer should work out fine. They are bare metal. They will rust just from water if not coated.

Why couldn’t they have painted these from the assembly line? Pain in the arse to degrease and paint. I probably did a horrible job too. Was almost tempted to dump them and just order oem tie rods. My hands smell like rubber gloves and can’t get some of that nasty krylon black rust protectant crap off my hands. Lol
