i'm looking into changing r&p gears for lower ratio and my friend has a new set of assembled 3rd members with 5.29 Yukon gears. My question is are any of u run this ratio on your minis and are they reliable, strong? thanks for help.

As strong as any other gear. Yukon wouldn't necessarily be my first brand choice but they aren't bad.

if your buddy's offering them at a decent price, I say why not? Doesn't mean you'll have to install them the exact moment you buy, you can take your time to get anything else you may want together (IE tires, or a locker) and drop 'em in when you're ready, or you can turn around and sell 'em to someone else if they don't pan out.

I ran 5.29's in a few of my old mini's (with 35's) and never had any problems.
I did buy an 87 pick up a few years ago with a busted ring & pinion (5.29's). Replaced them and drove it for a year, only wheeled it a few times, with no problems. I have no idea how they broke. I bought it from a little used car lot who got it in a group buy like that. I figure either they were not installed correctly or the PO didn't know how to drive.

hey John, i will be running my 39" baja claws of my fj40 , also i will have doubler with 4.7 gears, it will be installed on my buggy project so i will be beating the sh;t out of it, oh and the diff has a locker installed in it already, everything for $350, is that a good price?:hhmm:

It's Top secret. you will see it soon, coal mine or fall crawl. will probably have my buildup in hardcore section so tune in, coming soon.
