actually, they look pretty good for welding a sheetmetal seam.

You could check them out in person...oh wait. Never mind.

Really? Is there a real need for this many spot welds?

HOURS later...ok, days. and the bulkhead is out. It was really rotted, and the heater channels/rockers tie into it. It is also the front body to pan support.

and the new bulkhead- just set in for now, I still have to get the other rocker out. then it can all get welded in.

That looks much much better. Good call buying new cowl/bulkhead.....

This is a ton of work for a POS VW that will most likely be on it's lid by turn 2.

BTW- anyone have a junk 1600CC VW motor? I need one for mockup. Ours is apart for rebuild.

I have a block, not sure on other stuff, heads, jugs etc. I have to look inthe attic.

Looks like the inlaws are bringing up a pile of your crap! Hopefully I will remember to get those soft doors to you.

When worlds collide.... LC and VW

My wife and I have been wadding into the world of 5/1600 over the past year. Please post up if your rig is alive. Looks like a well thought through build. We have been lamenting the sale of our last flat 4 off road race car; looking for a starter class 5 to race.

This bug now lives in my garage. Progress is slow, but I just purchaced a parts bug with the intention of making a street legal baha.
I would like to get the sheet metal work done this winter, maybe even the tube bending. It is going to be awhile before I pop for wheels tires and shocks, so I expect it will be another couple of years before it is done.

Thanks for checking in.
Al

So is it in Vt with you? Looked like it was down south for a while. Love to check it out some time, not many in New England. Ever thought of entering a NASA Rally event with it? Black River Stages is about 3 hours from you, if you & Bug are in Burlington.
