unlock the hubs put it in 4wheel and see if the proublem is there if so could be transfercase. Is it an auto truck or 5speed?

i think we have gone over this a few times not it has been swapped to a 5 speed both front and rear and 410's

its only acts up when with in 4wd hi and lo and the hubs are locked and yes there both locked!

if the hubs are not locked and its in 4wd its fine
if the hubs are locked but not in 4wd hi or low its fine!

has new brakes all around! nothing is grabbing

So it was an auto? Are the diffs stock, cause I don't think that 4.10's came in the auto trucks.... It is really starting to sound like the diffs are mismatched.... I know you said they were the same... BUT! I'd pull the diff end of each drive shaft off of the pinion and check the color codes on the end of the pinion, that should give us a final answer on that.....

the vin plate code is G292 so 8 inch 4.10 gear open and some crazy auto trans code

so if i pull the drive shafts your telling me at the back of the pinion there should be a color code on the nut ?
or some where around there

or do i have to take the axles out and look at the full carrier

Yep, right on the end of the pinion, just drop the end of the drive shaft. Should only take a few minutes.

Here's a helpful link.

4.10's are pink.

ahhh crap this is such a pain ! well the back blue aka 430!
but the front has nothing and looks rebuilt! has a yellow make on the nut! which would make it a 456 but it looks like some just marked it yellow and the pinion looks pretty new! along with the nut
so now i just need to fig out what the front is my guess its a 4 10 but its really hard to tell

thanks for all your time and with dealing with me but i got it all figged out today some before me or my friend swap out the turbo rear diff for a normal 4cyl one which has a 430 gear in it! and my truck came factory with a 410 set! so now i need to make up my mind which to swap out! front or rear i think sticking a 410 in the rear would make me happy on gas and easyer to do !

Well that's a bummer.... The good news is you can get a 4.10 diff pretty cheap/free (toyota only made about a billion of them...). Put up a thread in the parts wanted section here, I'll keep my eyes open for one too.

thanks man already did BTW you rock! thanks for all the help!
