so i fixxed all my brakes and other little problems on my 87 4 runner turbo! like timing chain and turbo rebuild!

so i went to throw it into 4wd and wow pulls super hard to the right over 15 mph and won't roll down a hill like the brakes are on

so i take i have some binding problems?

any help here i'm new to 4x4 trucks!

Well if it pulls to the right that means your tcase is not fawked so be happy about that. Could be either your diff or something with the cv axle, or inside the spindle. I'd start the the cv's. Are the boots torn? If so the cv could be dry as a bone and trying to lock up. Could be a diff problem but I have personally never had only one tire suffer from a busted diff (aside from losing 4wd, but not pullling or anything). Also, is it pullling at speed or even pulling hard crawling at 3 miles an hour? If you were out on the highway in 4wd with your hubs locked, that is hard on your vehicle, but something still isn't right, because 4wd is desired by many for snow, and pulling to the right in snow would make 4wd kind of worthless. Do you have any vibrations or anything?

yea its seems to shake a bit more like if i had super knoby tires. and the pass side does seem to be very stiff like i had hard shock on only in 4wd

well i'm most trying to get this truck ready for winter and for some muddy back tails where i like to go camping ! and pulling friends out of ditches
the CV boots are in good shape and i can move the grease around in side of them!

the truck did sit for about 4 months but thats about it

timing chain-no, turbo-no, brakes-possibly, what other "little things" did you fix. when you say it wont roll down a hill, like the brakes are on. Is it anything like trying to roll down a hill in 4-lo?

most have confused you

its not the brakes there all fine and happy now!
no any time its in 4wd it won;t roll freely at all like its binding!
its locks up and only the power of the motor reved up does it move

This wouldn't explain the pull to one side but how is the front drive shaft? I just saw one at work with 4wd binding that had crusty front drive shaft joints.

To me, if the driver side hub was bad and not engaging the axle that it would cause a hard pull to the right in 4wd especially at higher speeds. Worth checking since your cv's appear to be fine.

Try this:

Lock hubs, stick T-case in 4wd, jack both front tires up off of the ground (Doesn't have to be much, just as long as they can spin)

Now try to spin one tire, the other tire should rotate the oposite way, and it should be nice and smooth, if it's not smooth, or you can't turn the tires, your spider gears could be messed up.

unlock the hubs put it in 4wheel and see if the proublem is there if so could be transfercase. Is it an auto truck or 5speed?
