4Runner Master Cylinder Upgrade Questions???

Hmmm. Marlin and All-Pro look like they carry the same one. Marlin lists it for those who upgraded to larger drums or disc brakes in the rear and all-pro lists it for those who converted to disc rear.

I was thinking there were three 80 series MCs: one for the 91-92 disc front, drum rear; one for 93-97 disc front/rear with ABS; and one for 93-97 disc front/rear without ABS. I have been informed the last one doesn't exist. All rear disc 80's are ABS equipped. So the non-ABS one is the disc front/drum rear one. Anyway, not sure if anyone else was thinking the same thing as me (I'm retarded...), so I thought I'd just get this info out there just in case.

So now, I don't know much about how ABS works, but will it have any effect being a MC for an ABS vehicle going on a non-ABS vehicle?

Thanks Fergdaddy

But will the 80 series MC for disc/drum (47201-60540 or 47201-60410) bolt right up to the 60 booster?

What are those part #'s? Toyota?

Prices?

Thanks

They will all bolt right up. The only issue might be where the hardlines route into the MC.

This really is not rocket science. You have larger bores so you need to push more fluid for a given amount of pedal stroke. To do this you get a bigger bore in the MC. ANY MC that you can bolt to your booster wil work better than what ya got if it is 1" bore.

If you buy the 80 series MC most of the time it will not include the resivour or cap unless you buy it OEM. maybe Marlin is different.

Get the disk/drum from mid years 80s and be done with it.

Ferg:

Here's what Marlin's site says, "On 1979-1985 Trucks and 4Runners the smaller factory bore works fine with stock, solid front rotors and 8" rear drums. If you upgrade the rear to larger 1986 and up, 10" drums and/or upgrade the front to a vented style caliper you will want to install a 1" bore master cylinder like this one for additional volume."

I'm still pretty clueless about alot of this stuff, but it sounds to me like the MC he is selling will work for a disks in the front with drums in the rear application.

Ferg, sell me your 4Runner MC man, i emailed ya!

Sorry for jumping in on this late when my fzj80 axle was swapped in i went with 93-94 Disc/disc, 47201-60550 non abs MC and a frontrange proportioning valve set up. i got the MC from Napa but had to get the resevoir and cap seperate. i remember it wasn't terrible expensive under $100, I want to say like $80 but I can't remeber. it was inexpensive prolly because it did not come witht he cap and resevoir:( But I found both the resevoir and the cap in a local pick and pull off of a 91 or so toyota pu I cut the cap and used the stock contectors and re fit the plunger so as to have the brake light working like factory.
when you get your fzj80 axles make sure they come with the ebrake cable in that it is a direct fit into the stock fj6x ebrake handle but the stock fj6x ebrake cableing will not work with the fzj80 ebrake.

Ok. So which 80 series master do i need? Seems there is something different in the brakes as of 5/94 till the end of the 80... Anybody know? I've got a '95 rear I'm stickin' under and I'm thinkin I should go with the 80 brake master that is specific to the year of my 80 disc rear, but I'm just wonderin' what the difference might be. Anybody know? Perhaps I need to venture on over to the 80s section again...

What about using a T100 MC? It's supposedly has a bigger bore than even the 80 series. I remember reading about it on the LCML.

Hmmmm, interesting!

Could TOO big of a bore be a problem?
