New guy here. I did attempt to search with no matching results. My dad's LV fuel sender is completely open circuit. Verified the gauge and wire to the sender is good. Used a sending unit my dad had and when sweeping it, the gauge goes from half to full. Sender is definitely for some other vehicle but served as a tester. My question is, anyone know the ohms range of the sender? I assume the gauge is the same as a fj40? Also, do the pickups have the same fuel tank behind the axle as the LV models?

When asking for help year/model/market.

When I put in a 12.5 gallon Datsun B210 behind the rear axle as an aux tank. I bought an assortment of 2% low ohm resisters from radio shack. I was able to adjust the resistance to get FJ40's OEM fuel gauge to read using the B210 tank sender E which was empty to 1/2 which was full. A flick of a switch and the fuel gauge would read the 18.5 gallon stock tank.

The toyota values were in my Haynes book for landcruisers, I looked up the Datsun values in the library repair manuals for the B210

The early FJs used a bimetal sender that can't be checked with an ohmmeter - my 69 FJ45 had this one, tho I've since replaced it with a later one along with the fuel and temp gauge. Long story. Does your sender look like this? All the pickups I've had have the gas tank inside the cab under the seat

LV's fuel tank was behind the rear axle under the body, a alrge rectangle box with a long fill neck, not sure there is an access panel in the cargo area for the sender in an LV, versus needing to drop the tank to access the sender

you can also check in the 45 section:

Not sure if my sender looks like the one above as I have not removed it yet and have only seen the top. There is a square access cover in the floor, so changing it will be easy if I can locate something. After looking at photos, the sending unit I was using was a fj40 sender that made the gauge read, however it only red half to full. never lower than half.

I would bet that it’s the same as an early 40 series but the arm may be a different length.

I know the gauge in the dash is the same so the sender should be the same as well.
