These pics were taken club member, and 45 owner, Jim BTW. He was riding shotgun in a bj60.

Our club did an annual run this weekend. It is the Fisher East trail in the McLean Creek OHV area. The trail is full of large holes and crosses a couple of bogs.
We always do this trail in the spring when the holes are full of water and the bogs are soft. We have always finished this trail in the past, although sometimes with truck damage and once well into the evening.
This year we went home with our tail between our legs.
It has been raining here for more than a week and the rivers are all overflowing, the mountain snowpack is melting fast and the frost has been out of the ground for more than a month. The perfect storm so to speak.
There were 7 trucks in our group, my 45, an fj40 and vj40, two bj60s, a bj74 and an hdj80. We all had winches and three or four of us had at least one locker.
Well the trail started off being quite passable but at the second large hole the vj sucked a birds nest or something into the clutch housing and pooched it. Myself, the fj40 and one of the bj60's decided to tow the vj back out to the staging area. The other three trucks headed off to complete the trail.
It took us the rest of the day, probably about 4 hours to get the vj to safety and mucho winching. The ground was so slick that even if the mud was only an inch deep, most of our tires filled and we just sat there spinning. Only the fj40 with the skinny swampers performed well in this gumbo.
The other group eventually found an obsticle that couldn't be passed and had to back track the way they came in. They were also towing onr of the bj60's. The diesel injection system had an air leak and had to bled every 5 minutes or so.
A fun day for sure and we will be back.
