It was a loooong day indeed. We managed to get the chunk out with the third in the truck. We used a long telescoping magnet and some prying.
The hardest part was jacking the truck up without squishing anyone. We had a tow strap from the 42 to the 60 and the 42's winch to a group of trees (with a tree saver strap).
Once the truck was off the ground, it was just a re and re. The job took longer than expected as usual but both Rigpig and I have experience in breaking rear axles so the work went smoothly. We finished up the job in the dark, winched and pulled the 42 up can-opener.
After we cleaned up, packed out all the mess and headed for home.
It must be the year of the axleshaft or something.
