Two kits I wouldn't leave home without... coffee and air stuff.

Coffee setup is a Jetboil
  • french press for the Jetboil
  • Insulated mug
  • Coozie
  • Stove/Pot/stand/gas
  • Rag for handling hot stuff
  • Lighter
  • Spoon
This all sits in a cool bag with a flask and some instant coffee and grinder (not pictured).

My air stuff lives in the drawer. If I have to drive more than 11ft on washboards I air down and back up!

My compressor is hardwired but I also carry:
  • ARB air hose
  • ARB air chuck and gauge
  • ARB deflator
  • I see a trend.
  • In my cruiser I also have the ARB tire fix it kit
  • Replaceable valve stems that can be inserted from the outside.

Last bit of stuff lives along side the drawers... awkward items.

I usually carry in the space next to the drawers:
  • My hiking poles
  • Bear deterrent
  • Bear deterrent refills
  • My awning auxiliary poles
  • Bedding for the RTT
  • Jumper cables
  • Outdoor blanket (awesome kit, thanks Costco!)
  • Awning hardware (guy lines, stakes etc.)
  • A whole bunch of tie down straps
  • ARB tire fix it kit

Good choice for Bear Defense! We’re limited to sling shots and rocks in Cali!

I carry bear spray and keep a clean camp but the big bears here in Montana have my attention.

I love them, they’re my favorite creature on Gods green earth but the scare the poo out of me too.

I am going through the 100 in preparation for the upcoming season. We’ve been unseasonably warm and the trails may open up earlier than usual, my only fear is that we might have Wild fires sooner as a result too.

One item on my to do list was to add a solar panel to the hood of the 100. I got a 100w (don’t quote me on the wattage) panel from the guys at Xpedition Overland and I am excited to have it charge my second battery and keep my fridge running.

I decided to pull the hood off for easy install. And polish the hood one more time. My paint on the hood is getting thin, and will likely start to oxidize soon. So this kills two birds with one stone.

It’s a pretty straight forward install…
Add a layer of vinyl to the hood,
Stick the solar panel down on top.
Wire it all up.

First up was cleaning the hood. Wash, Clay bar, polish, wipe clean with alcohol. Surface is prepped.

I’m unsure if you can see the “spots” in the paint? I’m pretty sure those are oxidation spots just before they chalk up. I’m not able to polish those out anymore so covering up the hood should help prolong the paint.

Theres a pretty dramatic color fade wher the clear bra was installed. It’s really lightened up over the years.

Lining everything up… I measured about 900 times. If I got this on crooked, it would bother me forever! Luckily everything went smooth.

Final result. I get to steal from the sun everyday. Came out pretty slick.

Still need some wire management and to wire up the panel, but she’s on.

I have no idea how this voodoo works but I’m stoked to have the ability for the panel to help with keeping the second battery juiced up at camp.
