@bhicks ... I'm Still loving my center cup holder in my 80! The cell phone holder looks very useful. I'm interested... BTW, I know you are always looking for more ideas so here is one: A 3D printed "Toyota" emblem that would fit directly into the existing mounting position for all FZJ80 grills. It would be an easy clip-in and non permanent custom "Santoshi style" grill mod that with no need to damage your current OEM grill. Look at these pics I lifted from amazon for reference. This is what sparked the idea... Imagine the regular sombrero mounting in the back center. It would just lay on top of the existing OEM Grill and would look tasteful yet modified...

What are your thoughts?

I actually already developed two different "TOYOTA" emblems for the 80 series grilles. My issue was that the complexity of the print made them very expensive to make and the labor in support removal was terrible. I sold quite a few of them but always lost money on them. I might release an aluminum version of them later this coming summer. The attachment bracket would be 3D printed but the actual lettering would be brushed aluminum. I need to talk with my machinist first and make sure my idea is doable in an affordable way.

I was selling them for $50 a piece but after a few batches of them I did the math and realized I was spending over $60 just to get them to someones front door. That is not good business. Those badges almost killed my little company before I ever got fully going.

Hey all,

I had a child explode all over my cupholders. I contacted @bhicks asking if the inserts were dishwasher safe. The internet says some 3D plastics will melt over 140*.

He wasn't sure, but good news, if purchased in the last 12 months or so they are dishwasher safe. He changed material around 12 months ago, and mine are more recent than that. I can't vouch for his older material.

Here's some before and after pics. I had already taken dish soap and water and scrubbed there inserts before the pic. I wanted to save you the sight of the child gore (and remove evidence).

After... There's really no damage, melting or anything to see...

While I'm here, I just wanted to throw this out there. If you could do this for the Lexus I would buy it.

My thought is incorporate the L that's already there in the center and add 'exus' or the full Lexus like the parts box.

Completely understand... It sounds like you were donating to MUD-charity. LOL! Seriously though, Do you have any prototype/concept pictures of the brushed aluminum version? Very interested. I think it would be a good market for less than $100. Product design and development can be costly as well. I'll volunteer to be a free product tester.

The "TOYOTA" badge, the last LX470 badges, 2nd Gen 4runner Cup Holders, Universal 80 and 100 series cell phone mounts, and converting the 91-94 80 series grille badge to aluminum. I made promises to folks that I WILL release those products and I will keep my promises. I will run the website with the full product line from the end of summer up to Christmas then will begin the long process of downsizing the business OR selling the entire product line and all machines to a possible buyer. Anyone looking to own an up and running business?

I'm looking forward to the cell phone mount pics coming up on your website. I'm using a suction cup type right now that sticks on the windshield... not my favorite method.

Best of luck on your business model change up. I personally hope you are able to keep the business going but I'm just impressed that you have 4 kiddos (BTW, congrats on the newest addition) and a regular job and able to keep up with a side business. Much respect!

So yesterday I shipped the last set of orders that would be delivered by Father's Day. Any orders that came in yesterday or today will be delivered after Father's Day. Hopefully no one who ordered last night was expecting a Father's Day gift in the mail by Sunday.

Just a heads up to all, that I am heading out of town through the 2nd of July for some camping, fishing, and hiking with the family. I wont be able to process or ship any orders until I return. I made sure I have a good batch of all products in stock so when I return I will be able to immediately start shipping. Sorry for the delay but I wanted to get the message out there. I leave early tomorrow morning so I will try my best to get any orders that come in today boxed up tonight and dropped off at the post office on Monday along our trip route but no guarntees.

So I'm heading back out for another week of camping, fishing, and hiking with the kids. I will be shipping out all orders that came in yesterday on my way out of town today. I will get back on the 1st of August and will process orders on the 2nd and ship on the 3rd.

So I spent this summer training a new guy to help me process orders. That is now finally opening up my time to get back into developing new products. The "TOYOTA" grille badge for the 80, the new aluminum 91-94 TEQ grille badge, and updating a bunch of cup holder designs will all be my focus over the next month. I hope to have everything available before Christmas in mid November. Keep checking in on my website for new products.
