So for the past year or so my 2010 LX has not been able to engage 4 low. I found the problem. So I took a close look at the switch unit and found that the little plastic pin that moves the contact was stuck in it's bore. Found a good amount of sticky substance (coffee or soda) in the switch area. I took it apart and pulled the white pin and cleaned it and the hole it goes into. Unfortunately the rocker switch has a piece broken that would normally run against the tip of the white pin to move the contact for 4 low. I was able to press on the pin with a screwdriver and what do you know the 4 low engaged instantly and disengaged when releasing the screwdriver. So I will either order a new or used switch assembly and be back in business. Also of note my usb stopped working a couple months ago and I traced that down to some sticky soda or something on the connector. After cleaning the CONNECTOR with electric cleaner and plugging/ unplugging several times that is working too. And to think I needed a transfer case actuator (sometimes we get lucky) I have never spilled in this truck but the previous owner must have (probably due to our shallow cupholders LOL). Anyway figured this might help some of you guys out

I love it when a potentially expensive repair gets short circuited by a simple (and correct) fix.

Good tech!

How do you pull out the cup holder?

Thanks.

Depending on how much sugar-laden coffee and cokes have been spilled around there it might be somewhat hermetically sealed in place. Takes a bit of force.. but as long as you pull straight up it should come out.

Thanks. Pulled it out and found out the PO had a dog, or he/she had alot of hair lol. :shame:
I need to replace it after I cracked the silver top trying to get myself in the seat the first week I owned the truck. There is a plastic piece just under the holder that looks like it would block liquid from soaking whatever it is under it.

Mind as well grab a 12mm and adjust your parking brake while you are in there. Nearly all the LC/LX's I've driven need a little more tension the the e-brake. ...and yes, this area is a semi-permanent record of the previous owners. In my case, a blond mom that seemed to shed a lot as well. Luckily, very clean otherwise.

My 2008 had weak clips, but if you gave it a good, somewhat violent pull...it just comes out.

Sounds the perfect excuse to upgrade: 200 Series Double Cup Holder – BH3D Printing
I love mine.

I’m wondering/ hoping this may be my issue. I’m guessing your switch did nothing when you pressed it before? No lights or anything?
