I think I like the clears as well...dare to be different in a non-bling bling sort of way.....putting in the turn signals will complete it.....Do they make those in smoke?

So what are the plans for "Zen"? I was thinking a billet grill or some type of custom (which would take care of front emblem) and either shaving the rear ones off completely or changing/painting those to silver/onx black......

My preference is the clean and mean look......and you are 99.9% there.....

The clear signals for sure . Next perhaps the clear signals under the mirror (wait for summer .. did those originally in the back yard at -20°C and vowed never to repeat such stupidity )

As far as the emblems .. good question . In the past with bikes etc , I have ripped off most or all of the badging . I don't think I'll ever go billet , but I will entertain the idea of blacking out the rig . Either with a flat black paint , or a flat , lightly textured Line-X . I'll wait to see how my local guy does on Line-x'ing my roof after the rack comes off . I will probably pull off the rear emblems when I have the 80 detailed outside in the summer .

Beyond that , as far as the exterior , remain the sliders , Fr/Rr bumpers . I will be staying clear of many things I presently see on the market ... I'd like a good safe bumper , but will probably end up with something more approximating a phat prerunner style . Something similar to what Podvin had on that 100 , or what Geiger is selling . Sliders I have described before , and Slee might have the answer . Rear bumper will be tough ... but I will probably head back to Posers , and bend some pipe if I have to , so that it comes off looking and feeling like whatever I put on the front . Once I get front and rear , I'll have them both Line-x'd .

Black Rock Crawler Series 97 wheels will come by spring after the truck settles a bit more , and I decide if I want OME packers up front . I have to see if putting a full size spare in the rear will drop the ass any . In any case , I think I'll leave out putting hub caps on , and go with the more industrial look of the bare hubs .. and black wheels .

And of course I'll have to have scented candles , and incense up front .. maybe a sand garden in the glovebox . Bonzai hanging from the mirror in place of fuzzy dice . :D

Peace ...

we'll never hear the end of this "Zen" thing now...

You ought to lighten up dude ...

Ok , I have an update ...

I went for a nice long drive today (Urban) , and noted 2 very simple items ...

1 ) On roads with irregular ice the 80 feels and drives more like something with a shorter wheel base .. It felt bouncy like a 40 , for instance . This was at speeds under 30 MPH , on a slow windy road . It does not feel like this on normal , paved roads .. nor at speed .

2 ) I do think now that I have a very slight 'rub' of the lower control arm (driver side) with the tie rod . I slowly worked the tire back and forth when I was finishing the suspension install , and they just barely grazed each other . Granted I couldn't slide a pc of paper between them (I tried ;) ) , but there was no descernible resistance , so I did NO grinding . Now that I've driven a few times with the stereo actually off , I am noticing a slight audible click upon turns ; both right and left 90° . When I climb under there again , I will look for any bright spots on the control arms , and do a little grinding .

No chance this click is anything else eh ? Only happens on 90° turns , and is quite subtle .

Once I place a full sized spare in the rear compartment , and perhaps even replace the jump seats , I am confident the slight bounce I experince will settle .

Still lovin it !!!

Cheers ,

TY

Ty it looks very nice. Is the form/look you are going for simply "capable but unassuming"? I do agree with that and as much as I like the ARB on the front I sometimes would prefer it not announce itself so loudly. Living in a Canadian city I find it attracts far too much attention and people tend to have zero comprehension. I get tired of saying "I like to go camping" to people who think I relate to Bigfoot monster trucks.

How is it on the freeway, and how is the power response.

Big foot .. never thought of that .. makes sense I guess . I can see how that would be a little annoying .

I love the build so far . Capable , but very proportioned .. everyone including Poser I think feel it still has that stock proportion to it . Look snormal until another SUV or truck pulls up next to it .

The HWY ride is great .. RPM's are low , and lots of power to pass . But remember I have the Truspeed recalibrator as well as driving with the pwr button always engaged . I also utilize the OD off on hills and sometimes to pass . :)

The clicking could be your tyres hitting those new SS brake lines. I had to reposition mine after the MT's. They didn't make contact with the 285 A/T's but did contact the 305 MT's

neowulf,

Welcome to the forum.

Interesting ... I'll have to check it out as well . One thing has become clearer in my last few drives . The click is not only at 90° . It actually can be heard within 15° into a turn .

One more consideration for newish odd noise upon turning would be the absence of my running boards . Now as I turn one of the tires in the front will begin chucking debris onto the side of the truck .

your clear corners, maybe? just a guess....

Perhaps ..

Neowulf , my clear corner lenses I purchased from a fellow named Mot on this forum . ( Not entirely true .. as I purchased them off another forum member that had obtained them from Mot , and who is Stateside .. making shipping reasonable ;) )

Since English isn't your first language we won't worry about the spelling.

(Though I'm not sure what FSIMIG's excuse will be...)

What do you mean? He seems to have quite a grasp on "HaHaHa" -- those six letters make up half of most of his posts.

Neowulf - don't sweat the spelling. Most here can't seem to spell anyway -- that doesn't seem to stop them.

Hei Neowulf. Jeg håper det du finner linsene du er ser for. Kanne du gjøre oss en begunstige? Starte en ny samtalen , og introdusere du selv. Likeledes stolpe noe pics av din lastebil.

Fred ,
