We REALLY don’t like uncertainly as a species.
And the irony is that Uncertainty is the only thing that is Certain.

"Even though it looks unexciting, it gets you where you need to go"
I'm thinking a Toyota rep shouldn't be saying this on camera... Just thought this was funny but also my thoughts while standing there.
Pretty sure they already did, I just sat in
Let's say, hypothetically, the lc250 shared the exact same rolling chassis and drivetrain as the lc300. Would that fit the idea of cheaper LC even if it has a turbo 4 instead of the T6? What if they put a 4.6 V8 in? Or the 1GR?On the flip side of this is how everyone is saying this is a "bargain" when compared to the debut price of the 100 and 200 (when adjusted for inflation).
Yah it's not 90K but is not that kind of Cruiser. It's closest Toy model is a 4Runner and under that lense a stripped down one at 55K is pricey IMO.
I still want it of course but I was hoping for a truly affordable stripped down Cruiser not an air quote "affordable" Cruiser.
I have a feeling the same people would still be complaining. Because that’s basically what we got just different sheet metal.Let's say, hypothetically, the lc250 shared the exact same rolling chassis and drivetrain as the lc300. It seems like a turbo 4 in the lc300 would have been doable at the same price point. Would that be more acceptable/desirable?
the design of the LC300 would have not been exciting enough to cause the same hype the 250 did.
That is the reality of it. Regardless of everything else.
The 250 is eye-catching. Even if you don't like the design it will turn heads. The 300 body style would blend with the highlanders and I own a 300 and I am being honest.
I still kind of think the 250 looks abit clownish but still eye-catching.
The body style of the 250 is exactly what is IN right now design wise and they will get a lot of sales out the style alone.
That stuff can be fixed with future updates, anyway I don't mind unpainted bumpers, I would rather replace them when they get scratched than having to worry about painting them and even if they get scratched they don't look as bad as scratched painted bumpers.I have to disagree. The plethora of unpainted plastic parts on the 250 is an eye sore. Did Toyota really have to cut out the cost of painting the full rear bumper? Where else are they cutting costs?
Have you seen the backlash from the unpainted bumper trim on the new Subaru WRX
What is actually hilarious is how you cannot accept that others have a different opinion than your own. You get bent out of shape whenever someone says something you disagree with and cannot help but react and comment!Lol I’m still blown away with how bent out of shape people are about this. Toyota never said it was a 200 successor. Watch the Toyota international press release. Says it fits in between the 300 and the 70.
Nah I just don’t suffer ignorant people. What is actually hilarious is how you cannot accept that others have a different opinion than your own. You get bent out of shape whenever someone says something you disagree with and cannot help but react and comment!

As for cost cutting, without a doubt the interior will be not as nice as the 300 to touch or feel but it is not meant to be.
One thing I noticed is it has a manual hood prop instead of hood struts like the previous gen.
That is disappointing for a vehicle like the Prado.
From the photos we have seen so far it seems all LC 250 have unpainted rear bumper but like I said I think this stuff can easily be fixed in future model years. Are you sure they're unpainted? I think on the 4Runner some black plastics are painted. Some aren't.
I do think it looks funny to have the full rear bumper plastic be black. Looks like an unfinished bumper put on after a crash. The black bumper on the OG trail 4R looks good to me. I'd paint the upper half body color.

That is true lack of KDSS is a surprise but also keep in mind the same thing happened to the LC 300. Only the GR sport currently has E-KDSS on the 300s, KDSS was more commonly available on the 200.For the majority of the people driving the 250, most of them will be using them for mall crawling in the States, and the likelihood of the bumper getting scratched is minimal for this use case. Why would they go after a look where it looks like a $800 beater car driving down the street found an unmatched replacement bumper at the local junk yard? It’s something Toyota should be called out for.
Along with KDSS being nixed, there’s a plethora of cost cutting measures which should have been an optional package at the very least.
I have a 22 Tundra with the TTV6 non hybrid. I get around 19/20 combined mileage around town and commute. Towing a 25‘ camper up “The Ike” I got about 6 or 7, on more regular roads about 10. Driving a brick while pulling a brick you are not going to get great mileage. But the power and torque from this engine is absolutely glorious. It will tow like no one’s business. The turbo 4 makes roughly the same power at 2k rpms as the 5.7 and a lot more power than the 4.7 did. The ttv6 is about double the 5.7 output at low rpms. The torque curve is almost perfectly flat because it's ecu limited to be flat from 1600-4500 rpms. The T4 should out pull the 100 across the full rpm range even without the hybrid. It's not until about 3000 rpms that the 5.7 starts to pull away. On the long passes the T4 is going to struggle with big trailers. Just like the smaller v8s and v6s do.
Open question on fuel efficiency when towing. Turbo gas engines need rich afrs to manage exhaust temps so they tend to burn a lot of fuel. But compared to the outgoing v8s it should still be better.
From the photos we have seen so far it seems all LC 250 have unpainted rear bumper but like I said I think this stuff can easily be fixed in future model years.
I personally don't see it as an issue. I really like the mid grade / base LC100/105 with the unpainted bumpers.

I like this look better. Not sure if it is real or a render. But it's what I would probably do. Wouldn't be terribly expensive to get it painted.
They're okay to paint. I think most are intended to be painted because they usually come unfinished and get painted to match in collision repair. The biggest problem is the parking sensors can’t be painted very easily. It makes it cost prohibitive.
