I have a carbureted 3f that I tried fitting an fj60 electronic dizzy to. It will go in and I am pretty certain it is "seated", but I cant rotate it due to one of the cap mounting tabs. I dont have to use this dizzy, but would like to. I could trim off this one tab, and rely on the other two to keep the cap in place. You can see in the photos the tab that keeps it from rotating and the timing adjustment slot on the mounting tab. Not sure if anyone has run this set up before....couldnt find any info. Just hoping to get some opinions on what to do.

Ah, this is a 3F.. The 3F has a shorter stroke, so that would mean the pushrod cover is shorter..

Yes. I dont think they made a dented pushrod cover, because the top of the dizzy is right at the flange of the side cover. You can see that I had to bend up the side cover to get it to seat. The only issue is I cant rotate it to adjust timing since the tab is hitting the cover.

Might sound strange but grind the offending part off? or find a 78-79 small head electronic dist that won't hit .

Thats what I was thinking of doing. I have a small dizzy that came with the motor, but its not electronic. I suppose I will use the small one if it works. Anyone else think it would be dumb to trim this part off?

see if somone will trade you an electronic dist from a 78-79 era fj40 of FJ55. wil run with your ignitor fine
